need help just bought my first 1g

Hey guys im new to the dsm's and need some help im looking all over for a name brand aftermarket exhaust with headers but cant seem to find them anywhere. any good sites i can go to to find dsm aftermarket parts?
as of now i have a 1.8 n/t engine should i upgrade and get the 4g63 or go with the 420a? or should i just forget about that and throw a turbo on the engine i have?

where could i find a apexi n1 exhaust at?
 
420a wont fit, 1.8 is worthless unless you want only gas mileage, go with a 6 bolt 4g63t swap
 
dont be afraid of ebay exhaust systems, I myself do buy most of my parts from vendors such as ExtremePSI, but that is parts where quality matters. I paid 210 for my exhaust shipped to my door from ebay brand new and it still works excellent SS and all that, and when you get an HSK or Apexi IMO you just paying for the brand name because all it is is an exhaust pipe after all. Just my 2 cents
 
+2 on the 4g63 6bolt swap. And if you do that conversion there are a ton of sites you can go to for aftermarket parts. Just check the supporting vendors part of the site. I use slowboy, streettunedmotorsports, and extremepsi mainly.
 
6 bolt 4g63 swap or keep the 1.8 and use it as a daily driver until you can find an AWD model they are pretty cheap these days.
 
you can even find one from a junkyard for really cheap from time to time. they are fairly easy to rebuild, so you can learn the mechanical part of the 4g63t. not only that but the ease of availability to find and use parts are greater than the 1.8.
save up for the swap.
 
well as of now im goin to school for automotive so im doing all the work myself so im goin to just swap out the engine i have a cherry picker and everything so ill get the 4g63 but trans wise what should i do? im already going to rebuild the one i have because the idiot i bought it from thought he was cool so reverse is almost gone oh and i forgot he chopped off the muffler on the exhaust and spray painted the headlighs and taillights black cause he thought thats how you get the different color light bulbs. and for the exhaust i i need a 3" pipe from the headers down i have an apexi n1 tip that i got from my friend for 30 bucks brand new and i might go buy a t3 or t4 turbo from him as well for 50 what you guys think?

and should i keep my 1g or go 2g? just want your guys opinion on the matter thanx for all the help
 
i would say save up and buy the 2g but if you are learning then practice with this 1g in the meantime just to get some practice
 
Guys... really???... this guy just got this car, is obviously new dsm's and your already telling him to do a 4g63 swap?... you might as well tell him to strap a damn jet engine to the back.

Look guy, if you want performance you bought the wrong car. What i would do is drive it around if that's your only car. Put it back up for sale and try to get as much as you can for it or at least what your paid. then try and find yourself a AWD turbo car. Your gonna spend just as much if not more trying to turbo that car or do an engine swap as you would just selling you car and buying a awd turbo car.
 
Keep the 1.8, do not do any "mods" to it at all. Leave it stock. Then save your money and while you are enjoying great fuel mileage and reliability you can buy a turbo car to build on the side. It works out well, trust me.
 
if you want a project 'racer' you need to buy a awd car. unless you can make some money off of it, I wouldnt even sell the 1.8, I would just make it get super great gas mileage, and dd the hell out of it, while your looking into a awd dsm. as far as 1g-2g its really up to you. I personally like the 1gb the best. but any awd is fantastic
 
now which awd car would you recommend? the 1g or 2g should i go with a talon or eclipse? i know there similar and ive had friends with both but they have money and go to shops to get there crap done im doing all the work in my garage! as of now i will just keep this as my dd then thanks for the input but mayb you guys could point me in the direction of a few bolt ons for power additives like a cold air intake headers some small things just to get a lil more power out of this puny 1.8

I think a intake system would be nice just to open up some flow, besides that save your money its not worth x amount of money just for a 3-5hp gain in a exhaust system. I just bought my 2g gsx but really I love the 1g talons just couldn't find one in good shape, it has a nice curvature on the bottom unlike the flat look of the eclipse. I'd say go for the 1g Talon :thumb:
 
ok i just found a guy with a 2g gsx awd turbo eclipse who is willing to trade for my 1g eclipse should i do it? and i already have the exhaust system i bought it for 50 bucks off a guy who had a 92 eclipse so yea nt bad and where would i find a cold air intake at?
