I just bought a 1990 gsx awd it has some mods down to it like Cold air intake, 2G exhaust mani, Turbo back 3" full exhaust with HKS muffler, Evo 3 16g turbo, Hallman Pro MBC, Maf-T version 2.02, Front mount intercooler, Apexi SAFC-II, Greddy fuel pressure, boost and EGT gauges, Innovate MTX Wideband 02, 4 bolt rear end, XTD stage 4 clutch and PP. its on stock boost. just want to know is it safe to turn up the boost or do i need to do some another things first.

thanks

If you have at least 550cc injectors and a walbro 190lph fuel pump or larger AND you know how to tune your car using the SAFC and a datalogger of some sort..

Then yeah, why not?

I'm assuming you have no idea how to use the SAFC. So, no you really shouldn't turn up the boost.

What is your air fuel ratio at WOT?

well... the first thing you guys should be asking him about a new car... is have you done all the proper maintenance first??

it has 550 injectors walbro 255lhp air fuel ratio is 15.8. have no idea how to use the datalogger or the safc it needs to be tuned i would like a street tune so i can drive it everyday. also is it possable to get the ac to work the blower works but just not to sure.

15.8? is that your cruising AFR? if so... that is extremely rich.

yeah in it jumps up in down to 15 to 16.1. how do i fix that? with a new tune setup?

What injectors and fuel pump do you have? Do you have a datalogger? Does it have ARP headstuds?

I have no idea the perious owner said that it got rebuild but theres no way of telling?

That explains your avatar.

Haha. That was my thought

Go look up SAFC tune. There is a ton of information on tunning with it. Pretty simple

Add fuel to make it richer, minus fuel to make it leaner.
Datalogger is a must, even if you arent turning up the boost

Either google SAFC or search it on here, and look into a datalogger before doing much of anything
Just a lot of reading you need to do

Digger you got me laughing there. OP read up on air fuel ratios and like jones said before you turn up boost so that you are familiar with what is going on when you turn up boost and the tuning that needs to go along with that

ok thanks alot man is there anymore i can go to download tunes to my datalogger?. i also need to change out the carrier bearing on the drive shaft do you have any recommendations on any brands to use?

Before learning to tune, find out where the wideband sensor is located. Some locations are: in the o2 housing, before the flex in the downpipe or after the flex. Basically, keep in mind the further back it is means it's more suseptible to incorrect AFR readings. So check for exhaust leaks with the Seafoam method or other methods

The Innovated wideband should also be recalibrated if you don't know the last time it was. Here is the manual for the MTX. Hit CTRL+F and type 'calibrate' to find it easily

I was looking up how to tune missed with it a little bit it's still runs lean at cruise speed, but when on the throttle it it hits the green from 9 to 11 it never did that before it would just say lean at 14.8. So did I do this right or does it need to have less fuel.

Those afrs look better. From what I've read 11:1 is a good afr to start with.

There is no set amount you will be able to raise it. It will be dependent on your air fuel ratio and if you begin to knock. It could be 2 psi or it could be 10 psi. It just depends.

Oh ok I don't have any knock at all much is good right?

now I'm hitting fuel cut at 4500rpm I have the air to fuel ratio running perfect now even at cruise speed
