Hey guys. Im 18 and don't know to much about cars(but im trying to learn!). As you can see from the title I recently bought a 93 Talon Tsi(fwd) 94k miles. I got it off craigslist for only $1000 which I thinks a steal! The motor seems to run good, but it has been sitting for awhile(maybe 6-7 years). Needs a new fuel pump, battery, brakes, tires and other regular maintenance for it to be driveable. Apparently the guy who I bought it from got it from a specialized dsm shop about ten years ago and they put a bunch of mods on it.
-1991 big shaft fwd tranny
-B&m LSD diff
-Rail art head gasket
-Arp head studs
-Evo 3 short block
-Rps turbo clutch stage 3
-Kyb agx adjustable struts
-Eibach springs
-Walbro 255 fuel pump
-Ported 16g turbo
-Ported 95' manifold
-Ported 95' o2 housing
-Ported/polished intake manifold
-3" stainless steel mandrel bent exhaust
-Tachometer gauges misc stuff
I also found some time slips in the glove box from 10 years ago LOL, It was running high 12's in the 1/4mile!!
What do you guys think about the mods that have been done? And do you thing it could still run high 12's low 13's?
What would you estimate the whp and torque at stock psi? Ive tried searching and it seems like the mods are pretty good but I just wanna get some opinions.

Stole that car for a grad my personal opinion i would part the car out and buy a gsx 2g or a 1g tsi awd that is a great find though man good job. If you keep it, redo all timing components as well as obvioualy fluids, vacume lines, and waterpump go oem or better on all of this stuff. And get asap a way to monitor afr and a way of tunning the car such as dsmlink or safc gm maf something at least or you will find yourself rebuilding.

Also do a compression test and check turbo for shaft play and last but not least boost leak test

I know that I could part this car out and probably make a nice profit, but i really need a daily right now(plus I really love this car LOL). Thanks for the advice though. My older brother has had like 7 talons so he can help me out with all this stuff since I don't know too much about working on cars yet.

I\do the oil pan ckeck and make sure of what it is because synthtek is right if its a 7 bolt someone hacked and welded mounts if the oil pan is flat on dr side left outter side below timming belt it a 6 bolt and the block you want..

Yea I read that the the evo3 block is a 7bolt, but I found a note in the glovebox with a list of mods done to the car and that's what it says so idk. My brother said it was a 6 bolt though so I guess it's not a evo3 block. Im going to double check though.

Welcome. Do your research and have fun. These cars are a blast to drive and can take a hell of a beating.

Thanks. I've been looking stuff up whenever I have free time. I cant wait to get everything fixed up and take her for a spin.

That is a come up on your part! I would do regular maintenance and check all the bushings make sure they aren't cracked and still holding. Learning is best 1 person I would recommend on this topic is jafromobile on youtube he does get into high detail stuff. either go back to stock fuel pump or compensate for the 255 fuel pump. I have a fwd (gst) as well and love it, wouldn't part out my gst for a gsx if I wanted 1 I would just buy 1.

Welcome and Congrats! That's a great deal! Get yourself the pdf service manual for your car, give the car a 2-3 time comb through, change all the fluids, brakes, pads, plugs, wires, timing belt and tension er... Get all the required maintenance done, then it's time to have some fun, and with your mods, fun is right there!
