Ok so I just bought a 1990 Eagle Talon Tsi yesterday night. It's basically stock with a few upgrades and a few screw ups. It has a rebuilt tranny with 500 miles on it and a recent head gasket job. For upgrades it has an aftermarket boost gauge but I don't know if it works along with an aftermarket temp gauge. It also has a TRUE 3" turbo back magnaflow exhaust. It also has an ACT 2600 clutch. My dad test drove it for me and said it was a very good car and was worth the $1800 I paid for it. Now for the bad. There is A LOT of stuff just hooked up and rigged everywhere and I can't figure out where it all goes. The aftermarket boost gauge says I'm pushing 18 lbs but I doubt it. Now I've removed a bunch of wires that were not connected to anything. Here's some pictures and questions..

What do they cut wires in my hand go to?
Where does the coil pack bolt to?
Where does the other plug on the plate bolt to?
Where do the vsccuum lines under the thermostat go?
How the hell does the hood bar sit?

Thanks

waiting for pics man:hellyeah::rocks: But since Im such a nice guy, and i use espN First thing you should do is check for a boost controller,If its a manual, turn it all the way down and start over, If the boost gauge isn't off ebay, you might be reading it right. If its like a turboxs boost controller( if you have one) You should have a allen wrench in the car,Maybe in the console. heres a link for the adjustments,IF you have one. Turbo XS

Im guessing one of the pics are from the coolant temp sensor. Any takers?

Without any pictures, I can only answer one of your questions. The coil pack bolts to the underside of the intake manifold closest to the timing belt. Shown here.

Sorry about that, computers hate me. I was told it's mostly stock motor wise and I don't know if it has or what a boost controller looks like  Ok here come the pics again.

Looks like you have a cyclone intake... That's good. Also your boost gauge is probably correct depending on where he has it tapped in...(you have a pretty good gauge).

O yea...boost is to the right of the Zero on your gauge....to the left is vaccuum so maybe you were reading it the wrong way?

The more I look at the pictures the more I feel for you.....the previous owner looks like he rigged a LOT of stuff up....find out where them wires by the clutch pedal go to....they probably shouldn't be there ( theyre not in my car)

That looks like a mess. I hope you get it all worked out. The first pic is you holding the power transistor. It goes on the driver side underneath the fpr.

I'm a noob when it comes to acronyms and dont know what fpr is. I have to remove all the red vaccuum lines because when the car gets warm/ OT the lines get soft and suck them selves closed. all those wires go to the 2 gauges.... ????? Anyone have a pic where the power transmitter mounts? and i need a pic or the colors of the wires that connect to the 2 prongs under the thermostat. But thanks for the help everyone! Also there is no rev limiter?!

Here is something that may help it has the manual for the electrical system for you car.
http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/frequently-answered-dsm-questions/344490-download-1g-service-manuals.html. Now the pictures of the wires in the drivers compartment are they all going to your gauge pod? Or he could have some running back to the hatch for an amp/subs? or all the way back to the fuel pump. As far as the wires in the engine bay, I'm scared I hate wiring. I hate lazy people. When I'm done with my classes today I can run out to my car and see if i can do some sorting out with your pics and my engine wiring. Even though my engine is out of the car I know where mine all go. Ohh yeah the service manuals are nice but you pretty much need a laptop so you are not running back and forth otherwise you have to pay to download but you can still just look at them off the site.

Is that a boost controller running from the jpipe to the wastegate? That looks extremely ghetto if it is. Otherwise you would only be running stock boost at 8-12lbs.

And also, it looks as if the boost gauge is tapped into a proper spot for vacuum. It is t'd into the FPR line, so you should be set there!

they spliced into the fuel pump and BYPASSED the fuel filter.... Also why is it not holding fuel pressure? once I turn the car off. I turn it back on and have to let the fuel pump pump 3 or 4 times til it reaches the motor

I have no idea what this is! it was put together VERY loosely but tigh enough to hold its self together. its off the intake to the wastegate??

When you first turn the on, before turning the key all the way to start the car, do you hear a whine coming from the back? If so, you might have an aftermarket fuel pump and it takes a few seconds to pressurize the fuel system.

Alrigt so before I left for school this morning I worked out a few kinks. The power thing is back bolted down. I have 4 wires left to figure out where they go. I don't know where the hood rod attachs to the rad support. When I turn the car to on nothing happens. When I try to start the car it won't start and I let go of he key then I can here it whine. If I just bump start 3 to 4 times it whines and will usually start. How do I hook the fuel filter back in and where is it located?

looks like your manual boost controller to me

LOL The most Ghetto boost controller ever! :ohdamn:

I wonder if thats a Fluidyne?

Looks like it. I've got one too.

Since you have the Cyclone intake mani, you can probably ignore my last post. I'm not sure about the bolt up locations on that one. Your hood prop rod is in the right place, but looks like it's missing a bracket (see attached). Assuming you have an aftermarket fuel pump (Walbro 190lph 255lph, etc) it sounds like it may not be wired up correctly since it is only turning on AFTER you try to start the car. The fuel filter is located on the fire wall near the battery (see attached #2, and the 3rd picture you posted up)

The fuel filter should be a black canister (if it is the stocker) on the firewall back by the battery. You can trace the hose coming off of the fuel rail on the left side to it.

Also, if I were you I would probably take out that boost controller and just run a vacuum from the jpipe to the wastegate until you can get a more reputable boost controller. I wouldn't boost too much with how that car is looking so far!

Yep that's is definitely a $8 manual boost controller from the Home Depot. They do work, but just do as he said ^ and just run a new vacuum hose from the j-pipe to the wastegate. Also I think I saw the wire from the O2 sensor being ran up on top of the valve cover and then spliced to the stock harness? I would just go ahead and save $100 and do oil change, spark plugs, wires, see if coolant is good. Stuff like that.

I agree, a basic tune up and then go from there. I would also look into maybe doing a boost leak test. These cars are known to have leaks everywhere.
