I have a 96 Eclipse RS 2.0 and the temp gauge won't move. It just stays right at the C. No matter how long I been driving it doesn't move at all. I replaced the engine temp sensor, the instrument cluster, and the fuse but still won't move.

Anyone know how to fix it? Please help me out. Thanks

I replace the one right under the thermostat. It has two wires. I don't see the one with one wire like you said.

Which one did you replace? The 420A has two sensors. The smaller one being for the gauge only and the larger one sending a reading to the ECU. If you replaced the larger one, that would not fix your issue.

The 1 wire temp sensor for the dash temp gauge (next to the 2 wire sensor) should have resistance of 104 +/- 13.5 ohms at water temp of 158*F. But check the wire connection first - maybe it's broken, corroded, not making good contact, or missing.

Ok...I think I see the one wire sensor. I will replace it later to see what happens...

I try grounding it like u suggested but the temp still stay the same. I got to wait a few more days for the new sensor to arrive. After I replace it I will let you know the result.

If you unplugged and grounded the wire on the single wire sensor and the temp didn't go to full hot when key is on, then the problem is not the sensor.
Sorry couldn't reply got into some trouble and was thrown into the slammer....just got out anyways I put the new sensor in but still didn't help. The gauge still stay at the same spot so got any idea? Maybe wiring is bad? How do you check the wiring? Please let me know what you think.
