Hi everyone. This is my first import i've had and as soon as i got it home and ran it down the road i lost almost all my boost and it wouldn't run again because the battery was so weak also the oil cap had come off because the guy I got it from hadn't put it on tightly and it had lost a very small amount of oil on top of the valve cover (bought a new one and solved that from happening again). I got it home and left it on the charger, when I went to drive it the next day it had little to no boost and wouldn't go over 30 mph and had a clacking sound coming from the turbo housing. It started blowing out white smoke and died. I once agian got it back to my shop and took off the air intake and found the shaft to have alot of up and down motion and there was a small amount of oil in the intake. ALL MY MODS ARE LISTED UNDER MY PROFILE AND DOES ONLY HAVE THE STOCK TURBO ON IT FOR NOW.

Here's my question: I'm thinking of getting the EVO 3 ported 16g i found here Turbos / Turbo Chargers Performance Racing Products for International Sales from SSAutochrome Inc. will this work fine with my current mods and if so would i need anything else to get it running good again? I'm not wanting a full blown race car just a good running daily that get from point A to B (quickly if i wanted to LOL) Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Also I was thinking about adding this FMIC Talon/Eclipse 2g short route fmic kit as well

How much power are you aiming for in your daily driver ? I'd say just get a true mhi evo3 16g along with the install kit, a 190 fuel pump, 650cc injectors, an safc, wideband, and call it a day.
Make sure you have all your maintenance completed first before you start modding away at the car.

Probaly looking to get somewhere in the 350 hp range and what would be a good safc to get?

For your hp goal an evo3 16g is more than enough. You can get an safc, but for a few bucks more get the safc2, it has more tuning points than the first edition to work with.

I think you need to do a bunch of research. If you start reading about what mods you need to support 350hp, what they do, how you have to install them, etc., you'll be better prepared to start laying out the cash. And you'll not likely get more than 350whp from a E316g. It's possible, but not the norm.

Time to start reading. A blown turbo is how many of us get started on these cars.

Good luck!

+1 its not as easy as just slapping on a turbo and calling it a day. you are going to be amazed at how many supporting mods you will need.

I did recommend him to get his fuel mods first before getting the turbo.
Also if you don't have an aftermarket boost gauge and wideband i suggest you get these asap. You'll need them regardless sooner or later for tuning and monitoring purposes.

FYI, your car was made in Illinois, USA. So as much as people want to call these imports we're as domestic as a Ford or Chevy. I guess it's the body kits...

I see you have 550cc injectors listed. How are you tuned for those? Is the car chipped? At 20% bigger than stock, you may be running rich.

Is the stock turbo on the car the blown one or did you get a replacement one on it already? If you have a working turbo on it, you might want to look at getting maintenance done before you start modding more.

And if you wouldn't mind, post up a photo of your engine bay. I'm sure we'll see some problems, or potential problems for you to fix.

As far as I know the car hasn't been chipped or tuned at all. The stock turbo is the one blown haven't replaced it yet but it did run rich before the turbo went out. All the belts and hoses were replaced 50 miles ago when the top end of the engine was rebuilt. I did just change the fuel filter and changing out all the fluids now. I'll post pics up tomorrow after work of the engine bay.
