new to the scene

Hi all im new to the scene i just purchased a 1991 eagle talon tsi-awd and have a few questions it has a few minor problems and hope to have solved with some help... for one the idle goes up and down constantly it doesnt stay at a certain rpm im thinking maybe a o2 sensor or idle air control valve?? and also what are some things i should check as for general maintenence (sp?) i know the general like oil antifreeze but some other things like axles and tie rod ends whats some common replacement parts and what are some known bad items to go out..or break.. it has 140K on it but runs great...also im wanting to turn the boost up would i need a boost controller to do this? thanks for all help.

Unfortunately, as sharp as some of the guys here are, they cannot tell you specifically what might be worn on you car. You will have to learn to assess things for yourself somewhat. If you have some more specific symptoms of problems on your vehicle, we can help you isolate it.

For normal wear items refer to the prerequisite repairs in the upgrade path and your owners manual.

Idle problems are probably most common reported in our "Problem Diagnosis" forum. Read up and then post a specific question there if you can't solve it.

i always go right through the car no matter what. it might be a good thing for you to do on yours as well seeing how its a 91.

ok much appreciated information thanks for the welcome... i live in a darn podunk town and cant seem to find anywhere to have the computer scanned to pull the trouble codes... but ill do a full check on the car to see what i can find... thanks.
