New to the turbo/ 4 cyl. scene

ok first a lil background about the cars i drive...
Mom: 02 mountaineer ^cyl.
Step dad: lincoln ls V8 ( scary as hell)
Step mom: pontiac grand am 6 cyl (feels like a 4 but too slow)
Dad: F-150 (nuff said)
so i recently got my car (91 eagle talon tsi awd)
what is there to be known about my car like i want to know how to take the best care of it and which mod to do first please help!

:laugh: You have got a lot of reading to do guy. Keep it stock untill you know more about your turbo engine and what it needs and doesnt. It will save you money in the long run. Alot of guys on this board put all these race parts in there car were its not needed or its the wrong time to do it as far as how everthing comes together.
Just to give you an Idea on what you could spend on a 12 second street car is around 2500 MIN in modifications and maintance since you have a stock car now. All I can say is start slow and learn from others as far as what they are running. What are your goals for your car and what kind of money are you looking to spend we can help you out sure because we all like to spend money. We always find something we DONT need.

Is it an auto or maual?

They have different turbos. With the manual have the best.

Your first "mod" should be all the things that need to be replaced as a service percaution.

Plugs, wires, filter etc etc


Then get yourself a real boost gauge and start reading up my friend.

Timing belt should be your number one concern, no doubt. Read up on that, and where you stand on getting it changed as far as the miles on your car. Then the other service stuff like plugs, wires, fuel filter, oil change, brake fluid.... etc....

That is the best thing to do.

As for learning more, you have a head start on most. Once the car is in your possesion you will learn at a much more accelerated rate.
