today, I left the house went about two miles down the road, and went inside. When I left the parking lot I noticed my turbo was not making any sound, and there was a huge loss in power.
I look up at my boost controller it was showing my vacuum at -2.5. that was at 5000 rpm. I stoped at home popped the hood pulled on the throttle no air at all coming from the bov. I pulled off the intake and looked in side the turbo while a buddy gassed on it no spool what so ever. I tried to spin the blades with my fingers they wouldnt turn at all. there was no movement in the shaft niether side to side or up and down. I checked all the vacuum lines and clamps all was good. I don't know if my turbo has finally died or if this can simply be fixed. please let me know if you can help, and if the turbo is dead what caused this to happen.....

You spun the blades while the car was on?

I kinda wanna hear the answer to this, beacuse it sounds like a hospital visit waiting to happen. Please be smart about things if the car was running. Your fingers in something sharp designed like a blend almost, spinning at say a missley 1000rpm will turn your fingers into hambuger!

Have you taken your exhaust mani off lately? or have an aftermarket air filter? I took my mani off to get welded last year turns out I dropped a washer into the turbo and had the same problem. I've heard storys of cheap aftermarket filters busting and getting sucked into the turbo to.

If you cant turn the impeller on the compressor housing like you were saying, the turbo is shot. Now is a great time to get a 14b from a 1g. You will need a j-pipe to make it work with your piping.

Don't just mount a new turbo. Find out what happend and why it happend.
For example, if you have problems in the oil feed line a new turbo is immediatly dead again.

No. I didn't stick my fingers in the turbo while the car was running, thats like knowingly walking through a mine field. the car was off I checking to see if there was any give in the shaft. and there wasn't nor would the blades turn.

I was just trying to find out if it was shot or not. for what ever reason my intake is still sucking air. A buddy of mine thinks the bov might be shot. (its a hks ssq) it is not recirculated. However I do have a aftermarket air filter and yes I replaced the mani gasket yesterday but I had the open end of the turbo blocked off so nothing could fall into the turbo.

Basically guys the car has been sitting since August of last year I'm sure the oil is all gummed up I didn't do an oil change before I drove it Someone said that the bearings could have just locked up. there are so many things that could be wrong. I am just trying to figure out if this is cureable or not. and if not what the problem is so if I change out the turbo it dosn't suffer the same fate right away. thanks for all the imput.

If the BOV was shot, the turbo while the car off should still easily spin. I think your problem lies within that turbo. Take it back off and take it apart. Also make sure all your lines are correct and functional. like stated, putting a new turbo on and having it seize up again because of something stupid would be a waste of money. Goodluck, let us know what you find

Edit: Also CHANGE YOUR OIL

this is the craziest thing, today I went out cranked it up and it was just fine???
boosting like it was suppose to. to bad I forgot to tighten down the bov before I drove it...LOL I got to excited. I lost the the little rubber connector anyone know where I can find one. Thanks to all for your input
