No sound from bov??

Ok, first let me start out by explaining my bov setup. I have a blitz bov that I modified so I can recirculate it. What I did was exchange the "horn" peice for the "filter" peice and I then cut the filter off and hooked up a radiator hose from the intake recirc point to the bov. There is a slight pinch where the the hose had to do almost a 90 degree bend so it would go up to the intake from the bov. It's ghetto, but it's my setup. haha Now, I don't have that WoOoOsH noise that I love so much. What I'm wondering is how I can get that back. Is it because the thickness and material of the radiator hose is holding back the noise or maybe the pinch in the hose? What else could it be? Anyone know a fix for it?

It's still there, it's just quieter. The most common way to get it back at full volume is to go with a blow-through setup, so you can vent. You CAN raise the volume of the recirculated BOV sound by switching to a hard intake pipe and removing the noise restrictor from the MAS, if you haven't already... it's the star-shaped thing on the backside (the bit that normally fits into the intake hose... usually they've already been removed, one of the first mods to a DSM).

Try making your bov a little softer, that had a huge effect on mine. Now I can hear the recirc bov WHOOSH almost as loud as vented. Then again I have an RS not a Blitz.

What do you mean by "hard intake pipe"? I have an injen intake with a 2gmas. Do you mean I should get a hard recirc tube instead of the radiator hose? If so, where do i get one from?

I'm pretty sure he just meant a hard intake (like injen, SLS, Dejon etc..). Taking out the "star" restrictor, and running a hard intake and hard intercooler pipes makes your BOV louder.

My Dejon intake makes my 1g BOV sound pretty damn loud

If you are recirculating the blow off valve into the intake then it will be very quiet. What you need to do is blow it off into atmosphere!! Just plug where the blow off valve is suppose to recirculate into the intake. It is that simple and makes a huge difference. There is nothing like reving the car up to 5000 rpm to hear the blow off valve.

For even more power via weight reduction, you should try to remove the chassis. Also, always make sure you have plenty of blinker fluid after adding a new mod.

Though I love the enthusiasm.. :nono:

Come on man, it was even already said in this thread. "Blow through set-up"

Not that easy on a GS-T/X. There is a bit of modification that needs to be done. If you just take that tube off, and cap the hole it leads to the car will run alot worse.

ROFL good one, but you forgot to mention to be sure to check that the piston return springs have plenty of lube.

Nice one!

DO NOT VENT TO ATMOSPHERE UNLESS YOU HAVE SYSTEMS IN PLACE TO DO SO. IT IS NOT SIMPLY A "BLOCK THIS OFF" DEAL.

Anyone who knows anything about DSMs will tell you that venting, for the sake of venting, is about a ### as you can get and does more to hinder actual performance than help.

Recently I read that someone on here replaced part of the soft recirculation hose with a bit of hard pipe that had the right bends to it and the sound got a bit quieter for some reason.

You say there's a fairly sharp kink in the rubber hose? Well, that might cause the sound to be dampened. Try to replace it with something a little straighter or with more flexibility. BOV sound volume changes almost on a car-by-car basis it seems. For example, the free mod of cutting the dump tube that extends into the intake is supposed to make the BOV louder. However, when I and several other people on here did this, the sound actually got quieter. For others it got louder. You're just going to have to experiment with different materials and shapes to try to get it how you want it.

Possible compressor surge should be the main concern here instead of sound. Replace it with a molded radiator hose with the best fit ASAP, I'm recirculating with a radiator hose without kinks and I can here it just fine.
