As the title says my goal for this car is to run 10's with the 50 trim while keeping the stock bottom end. I am going to try and do it on just boost. But I have a bottle waiting to go on the car and will put it on if need be to reach my goal. Once I reach that goal or the bottom end goes(whichever comes first) I am going to build the block and will add pictures from that to this thread also. I will be updating this thread as I do things to the car. Expect this thread to last a few months at least.

My ultimate goal for the car after I build the bottom end is to run low 10's on boost with a different turbo. Then I will add the bottle with a 75 shot and try to break 9's.

Good luck with goal man, I read this whole thread start to finish and things are looking pretty good other than your wirey mess... haha! 600hp is capable on stock block, my tuner Dave Katz is making over 600hp on stock block currently right now. Keep up the good work!

If you are getting 12 MPG in your DSM, you have a fuel trim problem or a very heavy right foot. I get 18 MPG in my Talon and it runs on Ethanol with Dual -8 lines and Dual Bosch 044 pumps.

A maxed out negative LTFT and STFT trims will identify the closed loop problem. Or it just may be that your Front O2 is dead.

As for Patrick, get the shakedown passes ASAP. I'm sure the car has gone on a huge diet after seeing that wiring mess out of there. Good Luck and keep me posted.

I do have a heavy foot, I like to scare the kids with the BOV ;) , where do I want to keep my ST and LT at? Im runnin V3 so how would I log a post on here? I keep my engine on the rich side to, I like to be safe than sorry, if I had the alchy on this car it wouldnt bother be to bad about leanin it out. 14.7 idle, 13.1 cruise, 10.2 WOT is where my o2 is

LTFT's should be around +-2% and the STFT's should not be maxed out in any direction.

The 13.1 at cruise is what is causing your poor gas mileage. Your AFR's should always be stoich as long as you are not at WOT.

Jeff, any knowledge you want to add that you think might help get to the goal would be much appreciated.

Thanks I'll do some more tuning on it when I get it fixed, I took it to the track today and broke my trannie :( I'm starting to find them weak spots now!

I forgot to add these pics of a $2 paint job I did to the passenger side to make it look better.

Not bad for two cans of .96cent spray paint.

I was going to go to the track this past Sunday but it rained. So the first passes are postponed until next Sunday or the one after. I am looking for 11's the first pass with some timing pulled from the stock tune. I have the timing pulled to make sure it doesn't knock on pump gas. Once I go to the track I will tune it for race gas. My 70-90 time with the pump gas and timing pulled would indicate it is capable of low 12's how it sits when compared to other 70-90 times.

Do you have any specific questions??

Just find a dry night to race at the track. Pre-load the tranny before letting the clutch grab and hope everything holds up. Your weight reduction will increase the reliability of every drivetrain component in the car.

Nothing specific. You're just one of the guys that I respect and will listen to if you thought of anything.

I'm going o try pre-loading and slipping. I'm gonna have to learn it since I normally like to basically dump the clutch.

I modded the gm maf. This is a common free mod for the LS1 guys, basically all of them report op end gains. But I have only heard of one guy doing it with a dsm.

How did you gut that MAF? where the blades solid, no welding holes? or just cut and polish?

Have you tried out the new MAF yet? any noticeable improvement or quirks? I'd like to know how your's runs before I do mine ;)

No and no. I just finished it today. And I won't know if it made a noticeable difference since I never tuned the car with it how it was, every little bit helps though.

I had to have knee surgery so I haven't been able to do anything. My knee should be healed in about a month.

A friend of mine owned a 94 talon awd with basically the same setup (yes he ran a 50 trim) only difference was that his was 1g rods on 2g pistons..and he ran a 4" thick intercooler, and his best was an 11.2(with no spray); so i deffinatly think it can be done. Good luck and im looking forward to seeing 10.xxx for your timeslip

Nice build man...the Gm 3" maf hack is a great idea ...i think im going to do it this weekend and see if here is any gain in flow ...but good luck on getting to the 10's u probly going to have to use the nitrous ....:thumb::thumb::D:D

im glad to see his goals are closing in it shouldnt be to much longer. i wanna see this beast at the track. (well at least a video would be nice.)
