Hi, I recently bought a '95 Talon. Rebuilt motor with OEM parts as of 20k ago... now, i have G-Tech'd it consistantly at 14.5 and can get it to 14.1 also. I was told this car is stock, and it appears to be, but it is unusually quick.

Anyhow, a guy in a RSX-S with a 75hp shot of n2o wants to race for $100.. What could get me in his range easily?

when i first bought the car, he didn't have the juice, i wasn't good at driving the car and took 5 cars on him in the 1/4.. now I can drive much, much better.

So again, what can guarantee he loses, provided he does no other mods? i don't want to spray n2o... should i up my boost like... to.. 20.... for this race? or what?
 
I think it will be close if you indeed run a 14.5, but he might start pulling slightly in the higher gears. Whos knows, he might be into the 13s if he has I/E/H and the 75 shot.
 
Indeed, I believe it would be a close race as it is right now, but for $100, i don't want it to be this close. Should I bump my boost up? Are there any freebie mods that I can do? the only one i saw on the site is cleaning my intercooler or something like that.
 
are you stock? says on your info that youre not sure. :confused:

i didnt really understand, does he have 75shot nos? if thats so, no way youll win. anyone disagree or agree w/me?

i'd also check if he has a cold air intake atleast, its rediculous how much hp they gain from that thing.

my friends gots a rsx-s and when he just had - cold air, header, 2.5" catback exhaust - the thing pulled on 3rd.

becareful when running stock boost and racing a rsx-s.. and gl on your race :thumb: :dsm:

I am running 13PSI... according to my boost guage.


Can I turn it up to say... 17 or 20 for this race?

would it be safe?

No point of going over 16psi with the stock t25 turbo.
Here is what you need to do to run 16psi "safely" just for this race.
Clean out your intercooler with gas, rewire your fuel pump, and preferably get a test pipe.

Now the T25 wastegate actuator isnt gonna hold that 16psi, by 5k rpms its gonna start dropping and probly sit at 12-13psi. Another thing that causes this problem is your stock 2g bov. I would really recommend getting a 1g bov on your car before the race also.
 
You guys should also come over the n dakota for some racing this summer (at the track). Motor Magic in minot labor day weekend. There are earlier evens, but will take more driving, to fargo.
 
I think 1st off you should do some research and learn more about your car... just my thoughts. In any case...

I have found by maxing out the T25 you should boost about 17psi and NO more, you should be shifting at about 5800ish to stay within the power-ban. Dont take it anything past 6400rpm because that thing has no top-end at all. Then you will be sure to get your ass handed to you

You should be able to beat him off the line and pull hard enough in 2nd gear that when he pushes the cheater button you will already be to far ahead. I have seen those cars run mid 13's all day at the track so watch out. It is mostly going to come down to how good of a driver you are.
 
Hmmm my car was fastest on the t25 at 13psi then 15-17psi....although my fastest time to date was when I was stock and ran a 14.9@95 at 9psi wot boost. I think if he had just a 75 shot and your car actually runs a 14.5 then it would be close, with the other mods as well I think hed walk you if you are stock. If he runs off the bottle youll walk him and once you get to third youll lengthen the gap with your much better top end. I hear all day hondas have top end and feel the third gear in a honda....well I had a very modded honda once upon a time and yes third in a itr is decent(but they mph pretty low, as low or lower then an awd dsm stock)...but third or any gear in a dsm is MUCH better. Similar gearing and much more tourque= better. Anyways if he squeezes youll lose sorry if he doesnt youll win.

16-17 is too much on t25, especially with 2g stock bov, it will leak, also the guys are right t25 fall on its face when boosted that high.
youll get your ass handed, he'll pull you on third gear simply w/his mods (i/h/e), because youre stock.
also do you have all-weather tires? dont even think about racing w/those, im assuming the rsx-s is running decent tires since he is pushing nos, you know he aint doing that stuff w/ all-weather tires. so if the rsx-s gots some decent threaded tires, you wont even have a chance during 1st & 2nd gear.
suggest you do some more modding, but if you do race him gl.

i am running bridgestone potenza tires...
he has the stock RSX tires

so you guys think i should leave the boost alone and run him as is? any freebie mods?

rsx driver was shitty with all that he could of done better, but nice kill :thumb:

What did I tell you youd pull on him without him squeezing(nitrise) ...I knew that. If you wanna do something to make your car faster do the free mods and visit the tunning guide it will help Alot. I followed it to a "T" and wow was it worth it. Im not suprised that you walked him being as though they run mid 15s(any better then this is a freak motor or a really good driver) and dsms run high 14s stock. Anyways visit the tuning section and www.vfaq.com, do the free modsyoull still be considered stock to a point, as they dont make a huge difference but are worth it.

I know this if kinda off topic, but on the subject of T25 and boostin..I'm all stock with MBC and BOV, it's boostin at 10 right now (pretty fast for me)...you think I can crank it up to 12-13 and having it be "safe" for my engine? Remember I'm all stock....
 
Well, we raced, and here is the problem. My throttle stuck at about 7500rpms, and would not fall.... so i shifted from 1st to third and lost by a car... i never used second, because it kept grinding when i tried to shift to it. :(
 
ya u can go to 14 on stock internals or so i've picked up from reading tons of threads about this on this forum.
 
Actually you can boost up to 19psi on the T25, there has been a couple discussions on here about it. Most people run it to 15psi on Tuners.
