Just throwing a few photos out there of my swap. I recently got a shell from Andrew Pinder here on tuners knowns as Pinder91. I have since gotten 'phase one' out of the way which includes ripping the awd components out of the car, purchasing an awd trans, trans case and axles. Enough talk time for the pics.
I used chain falls to get her off the ground.
Then i removed the exhaust and drive shafts. The exhaust is obviously custom. It has a no name downpipe and muffler on it that i will be addressing before the install. I have a Greddy Evo pipe, ill be looking for an awd downpipe. In the meantime ill probably just use this one.
After unbolting a ton of crap including the struts, break lines, arms, etc...i was able to drop the sub assembly.
After the sub assembly hit the ground i yanked the tank off, unplugged the wire harness, and unbolted the fill tube. I cut the harness side of the plugs because ill need them for the rewire. I also kept the fill tube in tact as well.
After i got got the tank down i decided to finally tackle the part i was dreading the most which was getting the drive shaft brackets off the car. I didnt have a drill with a spot welder bit, so i used an air chisel instead. It worked surprisingly well as long as i was careful not to cut into the bracket. I did leave a few holes in the car itself but since it was destined to be a scrap yard car i didnt care. Which also explains why i took no care when cutting the awd bolts out from the trunk area. I used again an air chisel there as well and pretty much just started hacking where i felt was close. When i install these in my car, i will be taking a lot more care and measurements to make sure i hit my mark with as small amount of metal taken out as possible.
This is how the assembly sits as of today. I will be going through it all to make sure everything is sound. I am getting a full bushing kit, possibly a sway bar, suspension and changing the fluids out. Ill be putting some sort of under carriage protectant on it as well.
Ill be updating this thread as time goes by and parts come in. I know theres several awd swap threads out there so ill just add one to the pile.
