My first DSM need help...

I just traded my 1996 400rwhp Trans Am for a mint condition 1990 Eagle Talon TSI AWD, I need to know if there's a website that has in depth guides for installing cams, headers, gears ect, my TA was very easy to moddify and I got 400rwhp easily, what can I do to this beauty to get more horsage ? Can I put gears in it if its an awd car?

First off, welcome to the world of DSM and 1990 TSI AWD is a great car.

To answer your questions, this is the website that will have the guides you need to modifying you DSM. There are articles on how to disassemble you engine to replace the cams headers gears etc. Everything you need should be on this website including where to buy after market parts and review on those after market parts.

Unlike muscle cars, turbo charged cares take more care and effort IMO. You can unleash a lot of horse power in muscle cars by widening the exhaust, replacing the intake, and a high flow filter. Just like tuning a DSM, thats where you start. Here's a couple of links to help you out.

The best thing for you to do right now is just go explore the forums. You can learn all about how your new engine works. Basic modifications to get more horsepower out of you stock settings. Read up on how to tune you car before buying a bigger turbo. 14b is a great turbo to learn and tune.

Other than that, buy the haynes/chilton's manual and use the search on here. I don't know if anyone makes aftermarket gears for these cars. You'll enjoy the AWD with the stock gearing though, 400awhp AWD DSM > 400whp RWD

Thank you all, I'm just aphauled on what I have been missing in the racing world, my Trans Am was nothing more than a loud gas guzzler, it was a pain in that butt, after buying this beautiful talon I can save an extra $100 a week on gas and beat stock stangs from a roll, I was talking about rear end gears, can I put some in my awd talon for a performance bost?

Sorry if I'm asking questions that have already been awnsered but I have a boost controler already on the car and a after marker boost guarg, how far can I take the ther boost on my stock car?

with stock fuel i woudnt go over 14psi, you dont wanna hit fuel cut

the stock 1g bov can handle up to 17 psi, anything above that you are going to need a new BOv or a modified 1g BOV, there are mutiple websites and pages on how to mod the BOV.

so 17psi is you limit currently, but I wouldn't go above 16, maybe even keep it stock. Since you just got the car, I would invest all my time and money on maintaining the car. Spark plugs, oil pump, water pump, timing belt, etc.

Are there any modifications done to the DSM already? You spoke of after market boost gauge and boost controller.

you can't change out the rear gears like in your TA. this would require you to change the gearing of the front as well which would mean opening up the tranny. i'm not aware if this is even possible, and if it is it is not cheap as its not as common as american rear end gear swaps.

As for boost, stick to what was said about 14lbs or so. fuel cut is the good thing that will come of it if your too much into boost with out fuel mods. the stock fuel system runs out of gas close to that and you will lean out and detonate pretty bad. as you know lean is bad and 5 times worse in a forced induction car.
