So I had a buddy finally convince me to buy a DSM. We looked around and found a GST shell local that I picked up for a great price. The car is now in my garage and I am starting to rip it to pieces to refresh and replace parts on it.

PLAN:
Remove Interior and replace with new carpet, headliner, and seats.
Remove any unnecessary parts that I don't want in the car (spare, windshield washer tank, etc)
Clean up shell and seal interior for any rust prevention (there may be a very small amount of surface rust sporadically but not much)
Pull all suspension and sub frames. Replace bushings and paint.
Use underseal on bottom of car.
A mild wire tuck and harness clean up.

There will be much more after this but these are the first projects to tackle.

Now, here's where the help needed comes in...
- Where can I get factory bolts, nuts, washers, etc. I have checked JNZ Tuning and have found a lot of what I want but not this. I was hoping to find a place that will send packaged kits for certain aspects (like control arm bolt kit, etc).

- When I remove things from the car, such as the factory amp, windshield washer pumps and bottle, antenna, can I also remove the corresponding wires from the harness with it without having my ecu go loopy on me? The car sat outside and had water collect on the amp ruining it so I want to remove it and eventually put in a decent system. I also want to shave the antenna and rear wiper when I get to body work so I would like to remove those parts and pull the wires for them along with it. Can this be done? How?

Any info/links would be appreciated. I have read a lot on the forum and this isn't my first car to mod so I have some knowledge but more never hurt! Thanks for the help guys and I am excited to be here and starting on the project!

Miller import parts is a vendor on here that sells nothing but dsm parts. He can get you any nut or bolt you ask for.

Removing the factory amp should be very difficult but I would just replace the blown unit for another working one from miller parts

The rear wiper and wiring can also be removed you just need to remove the panels to acess the wiring and the bolts.

You should aim to restore the car if you plan to sell again for profit. The more modifications you make the fewer buyers that will be interested in your car. People with money who need cars don't want rolling projects.

Good luck

I don't want to resell. This will be an ongoing project for a while. I have always wanted to do a good build on a car and this is going to be a great one.

I have already removed the amp, just a couple of screws, but I was inquiring about removing all of the wiring associated with it.

I dont think your on-board computer is going to respond to those kind of parts your talking about removing unless you create a vacum leak or a short that would effect other performance parts..but as far as removing the wiring from the factory harness ,unless there no good. I think I would leave them for the time being you never know when or where you might want power, cap them off and let them lay:aha:

Considering the Amp,Washer system and Antenna have nothing to do w/ the ECU it wont make any loopy things happen ...... I would however keep the harness's to each part as the next owner may want them installed, especially the wiper stuff.
Certainly no reason to make a vacuum leak of any sort ..... just plug any said vacuum lines that are left from any removal.
