Doesn't need a BOV if he never steps off the throttle.

Your silly ^^^^^^^ That was my problem when I was younger, I never rolled off the damn throttle even when cops were around!!! It does look good though, cant wait to see the end product.

Despite his goal of making this a "street legal" car, this hunk of metal isn't going to drive more than a 1/4 mile at a time. Letting off the throttle won't do anything but slow him down.

Thats how i live my life a 1/4 mile at a time

My jaw dropped! That is so beyond the scope of my imagination! What intercooler core is that?
12x12x6

Guessing BOV flange will be installed later?
the BOV will be mounted on the inlet side of the IC right under the turbo compresor outlet

and a parachute?(ms i know....)
and a window net?

how? you plan to run around town in this car? LOL I mean I know i'd try...but i wouldn't get far!! :beatentodeath:

i can always take them off, but the parachute will slow me down after i get done running from the cops:D

............

I am speechless, that is a beautiful engine bay and setup you have there.

You could prove that it will be streetable by driving it to Elkhart, IN. I can take you to a few places that build race trailers all day, every day.

And since I am such a nice guy, I would even let you drive my beast of an NT around for a bit, in exchange for me driving yours around for a bit. :p

You know you want to.

You know with the way the intercooler is right next the turbo, you might be able to get away with just cutting an arch in the front bumper...to go across the turbo inlet and leave more room for the intercooler up top.

I took the liberty of photoshopping an idea. I was kind of thinking the same thing as you Rand, instead of cutting a hole for the turbo inlet, just open up the mouth of the bumper to include the turbo inlet and more of the intercooler. What do you think Zero? (your original front bumper pic is below my photoshop for comparison)

That is one clean front bumper modification. I do like the idea of opening it up evenly and so cleanly. This is one cool ass build.
Zero, thanks for posting the progress on this.

nice work zero. you're doing it right the first time, and it's always good to see work done like that. :)

I definitely like the look of opening the front bumper up to accommodate the turbo inlet. Looks really clean too. I would definitely go that route as long as it will look that clean in the real world.

Can not wait to see how the upper radiator hose will be ran. Love the v-band clamp on the intake pipe. Very unique engine bay and would look killer if you had a pwr ice barrel cooling that monster. :dsm: :thumb: :dsm:

"P.S.: The transaxle these engines are coupled to is a nice piece in its own right. Its durability definitely makes the engine's strong points even more viable. In the worst case scenario we've been able to come up with, our 98 Eclipse RS has withstood thousands of miles of turbocharged street use and 11.7 second quarter miles. It weighs about 2900 lbs. with driver and has a completely stock transaxle, uses slicks at the track and has had ZERO transmission issues. I've never missed a gear in it in over a hundred dragstrip passes. It's a perfect marriage with the Stage IV clutch we provide. I drive it hard, and if it holds up to what I dish out, then it's a durable gearbox! The fact that the stock components have held up to this brutal power level for so long is evidence of the durability that you can expect."

If Bill Hahn Jr. can say this about the tranny and axles, then why does everyone fear that the tranny will not hold up to high power levels?

Just curious.

I understand that ZERO will not be running 11's, but the rest of us without tons of cash IMO should not be worried about the tranny.

Damn ZERO, looking nice man. Very nice.

I still think he need an auto tranny. I see him upgrading to that in the future though.... eventually.

hey man not trying to talk shit or anything, but if i were you i would go get your money back on your paintjob by the looks of it they didn't sand your engine compartment for shit, and the paint is peeling off already... first time a pressure washer comes near it the paint will fly off in huge chunks! seeing that they ###### did a number on the rest of the body as well

Yes the paint was one serious gripe i had BUT the problem has alredy been resolved and once all the motor stuff is done....the motor will come back out and the bay sprayed over again.

The concern is not about "us" having problems with the tranny (not including the stock diff). The concern is at 700whp there MAY be a problem with the drivetrain/tranny. It's kinda an unknown since nobody has been there yet.

As for a regular street set-up, IMO (and through emperical evidence) stock is just fine.

Lookin' better every day, Zero :thumb:
