I have a small leak enough that i have to be putting oil in it ones every 2 week sins is my daily. And did my valve cover and did my turbo drain line and that didn't do much to stop the leak. It looks like is coming from maybe the rear main seal? The small drop of oil is on the transfer case pointy tip it has at the bottom. I know for sure is not trans fluid because is way to thin and it smell like well motor oil.... :| so please don't ask me if its my transfer case leaking, i put in Red Line fluid so obviously is going to be noticeable if it that was my source of leak. OR my transmission same goes with that.. :thumb: So i am guessing the rear main seal, if anyone has any comments or ideas one what else i should check for the source of the leak would be great! If their is any other seals or gasket in that area let me know please so i can go head and buy it and do the job RIGHT ONES!! I know doing rear mains are a bit of a pain.... :notgood:

I believe he's asking where the motor could possibly be leaking based on where he is finding his oil build-up.

Ok I explain where the area of the leak is coming from and was wondering what you guys thought it could be so I could get to look into it. I am thinking rear main seal because oil pan gasket seems too dry no signs of leak.

You ever find the cause of this leak? I have the same symptoms and believe they are related. Mine just started leaking out of no where. Pan gasket seems dry, so it's either coming from above that and wokring its way down, or it's somewhere else.

Please let me know if you found the answer to your leak!

Thanks,
Scott

Yes no thanks to most of the useless people on here.

It was coming from the CAS O-ring and running down side of the head and down the trans to the transfer case. If you feel around the bottom of the CAS and touch any oil then you got it! I cleaned mind and drove it, sure thing got oil under it again.

Let me know if that help!

Bro, you are a f-ing genius. I recently took my CAS out due to other reasons and I think that's exactly where the leak is coming from. My leak is about 1 drop per second though, and it bothering me a lot.

I already took the valve cover gasket off and put it back on. However the leak remains.

I am almost certain that it's the o-ring for the CAS. Thank you so much for the confirmation. I wish I could give you positive feedback or something!!!

I'm going to replace the O-ring and report back here!

Thanks,
Scott

Sadly, I have to retract my statement. I changed the CAS o-ring for another that was sure to not leak. When I started my car, I checked underneath only to see the same oil leak. Roughly one drop per second, dripping off of the transfer case.

I took the time today to work on finding out the root cause of my leak (hoping to god I wouldn't need to drop my trans in the process).

The following is a write-up that will hopefully help someone searching for an oil leak in the same location:

I started by removing my down-pipe. I then went straight for the transfer case. After removing that, I was able to see things a little clearer. I started the car (downpipe off) and stuck my head underneath, almost blowing up my ear drums in the process.

I took my shop-light and checked to see where this leak was coming from. I quickly found that the leak seemed to be originating from an oil pan bolt. I removed the bolt after draining the oil and was surprised to see that there was not a lot of oil on the threads. This got me looking a little more closely at the pan itself.

I found that where the flange of the pan met the side, very close to the screw, the pan had a crack in it. I took some pics of it for clarity.

I JB Welded it and waited for that to dry. No more leak. I circled the crack in the pic because it's difficult to see.

Hope this helps someone that is tracking down a leak in the same area. Although I didn't find much about this when searching the forums....
