Hey, guys -

I'm having a bit of an argument with a friend.

He claims that all the best HP numbers on 4G63 engines are made with MOPAR parts.

I've been lurking around this forum for over 3 years now, and done a fair bit to my GSX along the way. I'd never heard of this claim before.

So: Do we use any MOPAR parts in 4G63 builds? If so, are they the best parts available?

Thanks for helping me settle this.

There used to be a whole lot of mopar crap for the talon sold at the chrysler dealership. But that was when the cars where new. If you find some of the mopar branded stuff let me know because I would love to see it/buy it.

DENSO is a company that works hand in hand with chrysler corp.

YOU BETTER RESEARCH BEFORE YOU TRY JUMPING THREW THIS HOOP. WATCH WHO YOU TRY TO BASH AS WELL. I DONT TAKE CRAP FROM ANYONE EXPECIALLY NOT PEOPLE WHO THINK THERE ALL BIG AND BAD LIKE YOU DO.

Now go out to YOUR car and look. DENSO STAMPS ON ALOT OF CRAP UNDER THE HOOD, ALSO LOOK AT THE ELECTRICAL SWITCHES AND THE GAUGES IN THE CAR THERE DENSO AS WELL. Now look at a chrysler car. OMFG WHAT DO YOU KNOW. ITS ALL DENSO AS WELL. HMMMM FUNNY RIGHT. YOU SHURE ARE FUNNY TO ME.

Just because they are Denso parts DOES NOT mean they are Mopar parts. Denso electronics are used in many different vehicles by countless other manufacturer's. By your reasoning, you are saying, that any car ever made that had Denso electronics, majority or not, is or was a Mopar vehicle. That my friend is totally assenine and outrageous. Realize that just because a company makes certain parts and sells them out to be used on cars from manufacturer's that don't use their own, does not make those parts the property of that manufacturer. If Mopar made the electronics in our cars they would say "MOPAR". But guess what, they don't. End of story.

No no no, Chrysler is the parent company. Chrysler owns Plymouth, Jeep, Eagle, Mercedes-Benz, Ram, Mopar, Freightliner, Maybe, Sterling, Western Star, Mitsubishi Fuso, Orion, Thomas, Setra and ummm....dunno what else.

Chrysler does not own Mercedes, they WERE owned by Mercedes, but are now owned by FIAT.

Chrysler has some ownership in Mitsubishi and it's subsidiaries, but it does not have a controlling interest. Also, Freightliner is owned by Mercedes.

Chrysler is now OWNED.

I do not know for sure and do not care to research dates.

What I do know - the old Dodge colt was pure Mitsubishi re-badged as a dodge.

Later, Diamond star motors was a joint venture between Chrysler and Mitsubishi. The dodge neon's now use the same design motor as DSM, do not know where they are made.

As far as aftermarket parts I think the big names still rule Mahle, Ross, wiesco with some specific DSM stuff added in. Magnus I believe make their own aftermarket parts

Wow this thread has gotten off topic... OP- maybe your buddy is mistaking internals from an eagle (MOPAR) to be faster then Mitsu parts.......maybe the new parts are fixing the issue and making the parts feel faster. Simply put, the motors are Mitsu-made, everything else is mixed and matched.

I never said that DENSO was only used by crysler. DENSO is just mostly used by chrysler. My 2000 S-10 ZR2 has no DENSO parts on it at all not even on the interior parts I just replaced a bunch of stuff and installed some stuff on the inside that required the removal ov about everything. Dodge, chrysler, eagle, mitsubishi, plymouth, and jeep all use most of denso than any other type.

MOPAR sucks anyway. All crysler transmissions suck because there not made to high standards and they use weak materials. I have seen and worked on many transmissions out of chrysler products than any other. Just last night I spent 4 hours taking a transmission out of a dodge to rebuild it and re-install it. It works great again BUT FOR HOW LONG. LOL. I'm shocked myself for me even saying this but if our cars were built with MOPAR performance parts I wouldnt even want a DSM I would look at it as another FORD or HONDA. The 2G eclipse/talon got F&#@!% up when chrysler got ahold of the design team for it. They realized that they could cut alot of corners to save production costs and still make money on the car. Look how strong and well built the 1G is Compaired to the 2G. I can ask my uncle for the factory crash test videos of both of them.

Your friend is full of it. The fastest 4g63's are made by shops that have the skill to custom fab stuff.
Bingo.

If you go to a Dodge dealership and order a part for a 4G63, it might say 'Mopar' on it. I know my timing belt says Mopar instead of Mitsubishi, even though it also has the Mitsu part number. It's just different branding of the same part. Definitely doesn't make Mopar parts better than Mitsu parts, nor does it even imply that they're different from each other.

That's a pretty ignorant thing to say.

This too.

The Only Thing that we(dsms) share with chrysler, is the 2.0l neon engine that comes on the non turbo DSM, but one which is DSm Spyder oen year comes with 4G63 non turbo,, our turo cars has an evo 3 engine straight out of Mitsubishi Plant in Japan, we here share just the electronics from chrysler on our 4G63T's.. so to settle any argument, our cars (DSM's) are US made, just look at the VIN starts with a Number not with a J-which would mean it was made in Japan, which are not.. The only thing that is not US made is the actual 4G63T engine that come from an Evo 3 as i mention before straight from Japan Mitsubishi.

And about Mopar, dont dislike or talk bad about them in any way, i think everyone has different like and dislikes, we play with DSM's because we like them, if i financially wealth i would own, Lamborghini Ferraris any super cars, but not happening, people own cars because they either like them or because is just what they can afford, i have a couple of friends who own Mopars (SRT-4's) very nice looking car from my view of point, well have fun DSM Tuners, lets keep making our toys as fast as we can, drive safe!!!..

Mopar parts can be found for the 420A Chrysler built engine. Any part I order from the dealer comes in a package with MOPAR on it. My VC gasket is Mopar. Mopar does not apply to Mitsubishi built engines e.g. 4g63 4g64 6g72 etc etc.

Ignorance is bliss.

i got to chrysler dealership to buy the oem parts i need because there is not a mitsubishi dealer around me. they may say mopar but still does not mean they are true mopar only.
