Mix matching sending units w/ gauges

I was wondering if you guys have had any luck with mix matching sending units with different brand gauges?

I have glow shift gauges and the sending unit that comes with it are terrible, hasn't worked correctly since I installed it.

Now the prosport on my other car has had no issues with the sending unit.

Its cheaper to buy just a replacement sending unit then buying new gauges so I just wanted to ask the question.

I have not done this, but the easiest solution I can think of is as follows:
If youve got a 0- 100PSI oil pressure gauge, you would want to get a sender for a 0- 100PSI gauge. Reason being the resolution of the sender has to be matched with the gauge's readout, so you wouldnt want to get a sender for a 0- 150PSI gauge, for example. Make sense? Also, engine vibration seems to be the main culprit where dead senders are concerned, so remote mounting the sender is a good way to prevent failure. Just get a -04 ss hose with 1/8" NPT on each end, get a 1/8" NPT coupler. Screw one end of the hose into the oil port you would usually put the sender into, then put the coupler on the opposite end of the hose, screw in the sender, then tie the hose to something by whatever means is the most reliable and safe and you should alleviate the failure problem.
