Mighty Max crankshaft fit 4G63?

Got a quick question. I am needing a 6 bolt Crankshaft for my talon project. Anyways today two 2.0 mighty max showed up at the junkyard. Debating going and pulling a crankshaft. Replacement parts show they are the same part. However are they? Mitsubishi parts were different part numbers.Would cost me a days worth of work. But if I can get for $60 it makes it worth the trip as both trucks were wrecks.
 
One is a 1987, the other is an 1988. Both should be the g63b engines.

I know the 2.4 cranks are usable in their own way.. Even two of those came in this week. Bad ideas of a 2.4 swap but the budget says no.
 
Good to know on the snout length. Something to double check. As for the nitratided it would be nice. Granted my old crankshaft was 0.25mm under. So all of that coating was gone. Car is not going to see big power. Will be running a 14b for a long time. Probably even stay on the 450cc injectors.

Still trying to decide if it is worth a trip. Everything says they are the same. At least with Napa part numbers for a replacement. Mitsubishi has different part numbers for the g63b crankshaft and the 4g63 one. Could be due to factory hardening. What would you guys vote for. Should I just continue to hunt for a good 4g63 crank or go raid a crank from a g63b.
 
Sorry for interrupting the thread but I noticed how some on this forum say the word nitride as if it is a coating like chrome plating? Nitride is not a coating but rather a process done to the metal to allow it to be more corrosion resistant and more durable to wear giving the metal a case-hardened surface. The nitride process has been used in everything from cars to gun parts and jet engines, there are three types of nitride processes Salt bath nitride, gas nitriding and plasma nitriding. There is a nitride that is a coating and that is called titanium nitride coating (TiN) and that coating gives off a gold tinged color but our crankshafts do not have that process done to them. Figured I would clear up some of the confusion to what nitride is.

Yep I knew it was factory hardening of the crankshaft. Mostly a head treatment. But looks like there are other ways that I did no know about. Either way its nice to have. But since I have seen people running around with turned crankshafts it seems to be ok without it. Granted if I was going for a high horsepower build I would pass.

Thanks for the clarification, I think many people consider it a "coating" because it is very thin ~.010" so it sort of seems like a coating. Either way it is a very very veratile metal treatment that is awesome because it doesn't require post treatment grinding, it doesn't warp the parts as you don't have to get the parts to the transition temp.
 
Well took a chance and it paid off. Pulled a 4g63 crankshaft from a 1988 might max. Side by side everything looks the same. This one could use a light polish. Had factory bearings in it. Anyways seems to have checked out. As the pulley slide right on. Rear main seal fits perfect. Even the rods looked the same in the junkyard.

Can you tell a difference?
