fins of ac fan started to melt the other day.
can hot exhaust manifold do this?

Yes, especially if you're missing the heat shields on the manifold and O2 housing. Get a new fan blade from the dealer.

... and also get new heat shields and maybe a turbo wrap or something.

The AC fan is mostl;y used for the AC only. But it also kicks on then the water temp exceeds a certain degree (not sure how high, but most people dont get that high).

I have an OEM fan and some header wrap in my garage.... PM me if you want it.
 
I'm trying to revive this thread. I've experienced several melted AC fans (going on #3). I've upgraded the turbo to a Garret T-4 and can no longer use the bottom heat shield. The exhaust side of the turbo is wrapped (since May). I experienced no problem till now. I believe the heat wrap is no longer working like it first did upon installation. I think my problem may be the heat rating (1500 degrees intermittent/not sustained). Does any shop sell a modified heat shield for the exhaust side?
