So, I just put on a punishment fmic on my 2g talon and now I'm melting my AC fan. I have a punishment o2 housing with a tial msv external wastegate and I'm thinking either there is a slight leak (I checked, but didn't feel much) or it's just getting too hot under there because of my lack of heat shield. Does anyone have a remedy for this? Maybe like a custom heat shield or something?

A lot of people including myself have put vents in our hood. I bought a hood scoop off ebay and turned it backwards that way it pulls the heated air out while I'm driving. Look up "greyforest" mod.

No heat shield will raise temps of course, but I noticed more from changing O2 housings. The stocker is thick, so the heat seems to trap inside more. Both combined is ###### the cause of melting.

Yea, it's my stock fan. I'm actually surprised I fit everything under there (16g, punishment o2 housing with an external wastegate and the fmic piping) with the stock fans. I was thinking about getting a slimline, but I hear that the stock fans push more air and I want to just replace it if that's the case. I'll check out this greyforest mod though, thanks for the help. Any more input would be greatly appreciated.

Edit: I looked and found some useful info. I figured I'd try the bumper vents first, because I don't particularly care for the hood vents. My question is, does anyone know how to do this? I'm looking to copy what this guy did because it seems to flow really well with the 2ga talon's lines.

Sorry for the double post, but I was just looking at DEI's site and was wondering if any of their products would work. Specifically the exhaust wrap for my downpipe and dump tube from my external wastegate. I also see some a universal turbo insulation kit that looks a little pricey. I remember reading somewhere that these weren't really recommended for turbos that aren't top mounted because of the possibility of an oil leak starting a fire. Has anyone used any of this stuff before on exhaust components other than a manifold?

I'm not overheating...yet. It just gets crazy hot under my hood and I want to avoid melting any more fans.
