melted fan and weird thermostat

Hey all, so i my thermostat has been bouncing a little....and not warm. When im doing daily driving around town it stays right in the middle, but soon as im on the highway i will fluctuate up and down. If im going 70 mph it will read COLDER. It always stays right in the middle, i have never had cooling problems. It just runs COLDER when im on the gas at higher speeds. If i let off and the rpms drop will on the highway it bounces back to the middle. Second, my AC fan melted, i am putting my lower heat shield ASAP now. I guess its getting hotter with the FMIC installed. So should i replace the thermo?

The easy fix is to run a jumper wire in the fuse box to your main fan to your ac fan. That way when the car gets warm, both fans spin. When the fan is spinning, it won't melt, under normal circumstances. My fan blades started melting a bit and I did that. 2 years later, fan is in one piece and not melted.

Thats not the best part thou. If you have your AC removed, you can do this. To turn on the fans at command, just push your AC button and turn the fan knob on.

When you want to shut the fans off, just turn the fan knob off.

You can also do it if you have your AC still installed, however, then your running your AC as well.

Sounds like your thermostat is stuck open. You could drive for hours at highway speeds and it'll never reach proper temp with thermostat stuck open (it'll run cold) but as soon as you're in town with stop and go traffic, the temp will hover close to normal.

As a result, your car will take longer to warm up at startup and your gas mileage will suffer among other things.

Dang, Thanks i'll keep this in mind. My fans are melts atm and thinking of buying slimlines. I just want the best replacement for sure the highest flowing anyhow. moneys not an option when keeping the motor happy

No wonder why my gas mileage is probably been crap latly. Well looks like ill be getting a new one, not really expensive so its a cheap and easy fix. Thanks for your help. Oh and im deff hooking up the fans that way and im pulling my ac in a week or two so sounds good! What if just one of my fan blades is melted, just one? It still spins freely....is it safe to use it still?

It won't last long if you do and has the potential to do more damage. Look into slim fans.

Alright, im just gonna goto a yard saturday and pick one out of a wreck....

Update, so i checked my coolant and it seemed a little low, so i filled it up and the thermostat problem went away. I think it may have just been low.

Oh and another thing, how do i wire my fans together? If i had them both running how much power would it use?
