hi all, well yesterday was a rainy day here in Dubai and i had to switch on my wipers for the first time :p this year

while i was driving in traffic i saw some white smoke coming from under the hood from the battery area. i thought its just some water vapor

i pulled over and open the hood to see that my battery was really melting and the 4 white wires that connects to two rings in the end also were melted and they were like one huge Wire ( the 4 wires were all melted on each other making them as one wire) WTF can you let me know what could have gone wrong?

one more question about the 4 white wires , why they are seperated if they are in the end gonna connect to each others???? on the positive battery

what shall i do now ? shall i seperate the wires again and change my battery or shall i keep them the way they are? the car starts now but the wires get really hot that you can not even touch them

thanks

well no fuses blew and my car is running ok , i forgot to mention to you that the positive cable was a bit loose , you can move it by hand easily.

as for the 4 white wires why they are seperated if they connect again in the end ?

thanks guys

That was kind of my point...it's hard to tell without seeing it in person, but it sounds like someone has hacked up the wiring on it. If you are melting wires and the battery and no fuses are blown, you have a serious electrical problem.

Can you post a pic of the wiring around the battery area?

If you don't get into it and figure out what is happening, you are running the risk of starting a fire and destroying your car, if not yourself.

There is no way in hell I would start it or leave it sitting with the battery connected at this point...much less drive it anywhere.

thanks craig

i only have the wires of the fan which i hacked to make it running with a switch when i want and i followed the steps of the VFAQ and it was running perfect for a while. i opened the fuse box and checked the wires that i installed and they were fine.:confused:

this is the only thing in that area that is hacked. can you answer me ### on the 4 white wireswhy they are seperated if they will connect again ?

thanks

I'm not sure on the 2G's, but on the 1G there are two white charge wires coming from the alternator that go to the fuse box and main fusable link, which then connects to the positive side of the battery. The MPI, ignition, and radiator fans also connect directly to the positive terminal, but they are individually fused in a box that hangs off the positive battery post.

I'm not sure why they used separate wires instead of a single larger one for the alternator feed, but it may have something to do with cost, or the amount of current that separate wires can supply verses a single one.

You really need to take a look at the factory wiring diagrams and see if your wiring matches it, and especially check for any fuses that may have been removed.

Are you sure you connected your fans properly and that they are drawing current through a fuse? If so, make sure you don't have too large of a fuse installed. That goes for all the fuses actually... make sure they are all the correct current rating.

how long after you turned on the wipers, did it start to smoke? Maybe it had something to do with the wiring for the wiper motor. Def get that battery out of their. DO NOT connect a battery to that with the wiring all melted. My 2003 hemi ram was 70% burned to the ground because of a wiring problem. But now is 92% rebuilt and ready to go back on the road.
