I was wondering what the most boost and/or hp could be applied safely on a stock 6 bolt block, assuming that fuel delivery and everything else is capable. What would be the weakest internal part? I am having trouble finding this out.

To run higher boost you would problably have to change out the pistons, but i think you can make 400 or more on stock internals

We are going to put this question to the test this summer. I've got a good running bone stock engine w/ 130k we are putting in our shop car to see how much power we can make and how fast we can run with. I'll be putting a page up on the website soon with all the info.

Ive seen people do this but usually they just blow the motor on the dyno. Hopefully you guys just pic like lets say 450whp and see how long it lasts. That would be a good test.

To the OP a lot of people run 300-400whp reliable with a good tune on stock internals. Ive personaly seen people run up to 26psi depending on the condition of your motor. Also you can run a good amount of boost due to the 1g's have low compression.

I ran 435awhp on my 92 TSi AWD for 9k miles and the current owner has put another 11k on it in the last 9 months. Still get regular track use. Car had 74k on it. Completely stock and has only lost about 5pts. of compression over the whole period. Tuned with DSMLink to 10.8:1 on 91 pump with meth. inj.

depending on the tune you can run over 400..... but like said previously try 450 and see how long it lasts, that would be a good test

I'm sure to achieve the max power a 6bolt can handle, you would have to upgrade at least the head studs. I believe Mike R. from the new england area holds the record at 585whp. He tracked the car normally and actually retired the block. It never blew.

I always hear people say depends on the tune. I'm curious what exactly you mean by that. Are you meaning as long as the person doesn't knock, overheat, overboost, using proper a/f's... What exactly do you mean by that? j/w
