Hey Guys,
I'm wondering how many of you are running one of these Talon/Eclipse Tial MVS 38mm Wastegate / Recirculated o2 Housing Package or these MAP 38mm External Wastegate O2 Housings / Stainless Steel (DSM) - Modern Automotive Performance with an EVOIII 16g? I'm thinking about getting one and curious on how "rock steady" the boost control really is? We all know that the EVOIII 16g's creep, so do these setups hold rock solid boost all that way through the RPM band?

Any advice, suggestions and comments would be great

Also, how's the fit? Any issues with stock / aftermarket rads and/or the alternator?? If anyone has any installed photos, can you post them here?

Thanks

Punishment Racing O2 Housings use 1/2" thk flanges.
MAP uses 3/8" flanges.
And this is a better comparison to the PR set-up.

Granted the 3/8" thk flanges may be sufficient and not warp, but I'm not taking any chances.

Punishment is having a Black Friday Sale which allows you to take $40 off any O2 Housing.

FWIW, I'm buying the Dumped 38mm MVS O2 Housing from Punishment during the Black Friday Sale.
I've talked with Tim at PR, and he says with the new smaller 38mm MVS WG, there is no clearance issues.
You'll be set, either way you go.

IMHO, the Recirculated MAP O2 housing looks like it might perform better due to the more of a straight shot for the waste gated exhaust to flow back into the system....
If they had 1/2" flanges I'd buy the MAP set-up.
You might want to call MAP and talk with Chris Carey, he's the Pres of MAP.

Thanks for the comments Strm Trpr, I did see the black friday sale at PR in the vendor section.

Can anyone comment on how / if this setup holds "rock steady" boost all that way through the RPM band? We all know EVOIII's creep and the last thing I want is to get this setup and it's not much better than the OEM EVOIII internal gate.

I've been running the MAP recirc'd housing for around a month now on my hx35 7 blade in the bep housing. I do get some pretty good spikes if I get on it in the lower rpm's (2500-3500) but I would attribute that more to the fast spooling nature of the turbo and running a 1.5 bar spring in the wg. Once I'm past that though it settles to wherever I set it (26psi)

If it needs to be recirc'd I would go for the MAP just for the smoother transition. The flanges are plenty thick and would be the last of my worries. Otherwise an external is an external IMO just try not to burn up your alt.

There are no worries about the alternator burning up with our mvs kits, the dumptube runs no where near the alternator.

Tim
