I am looking at converting a non turbo 1g manual to a turbo 1g AT it looks like a bolt in deal but are there any show stoppers I dont see?

I'm from MD lemme know if you need any local help. I grew up in Middle River.. Sandlewood Elementary representin' ^^

its pretty rough..considering you will need an auto wiring harness..the auto ecu pedals shifter cable tranney torq converter.. ect
i went from auto to standard... so ive got most of the old parts if you need them...

Unless you are die hard about your own car it might be worth it to try and find a trade. I like my auto but there are alot of auto owners that want nothing more than to drive a 5 speed and since they think your car is better you might be able to get a decentley modded low mileage car for a trade.

hey there, my bro has a 98 TSi FWD and he wants to go from auto to man. Can you give me a list of parts and steps to do this or is there a site or post i can look at, i would greatly appreciate it.,

I have a bad left ankle and cant really use the clutch, is it hard to change from a manual to an auto?

Well, nothing DSM is easy except guzzlin Gas in turbos.

But it is way easier than Auto / Man. You dont have to pull the pedals, shifting cables can be left and the other added relatively easily. No holes to make. The hardest part is the Harness and Diff. / Harness being the Key

I have a complete system fresh out of my 91 Auto / Torch converter. Cables / Auto Ecu. / Diff. Everything you'd need except the Harness

Pm me your location if interested.

2g Fwd

Parts list
Tranney
Clutch/flywheel (also need new flywheel bolts the ones you are going to take off the auto are to short)
Shifter Cables/ shifter
Pedals (break and clutch)
Master cylinder and slave cylinder
Clutch line (personally i would go with slowboy on this one or just make your own ss Line. The stock line is just going to be a pain)
New speed sensor the auto one is to long
New tranney Brackets, you will also need the hole left traney mount.(the auto brackets that bolt to the mounts are diffrent)

Personally i would start inside the car Tare out the old break pedal auto shifter ect. you can also go ahead and remove the auto ecu it will be sitting against the fire wall. once you have all the auto parts out of the car (pedal/shifter/ecu/line) you will b left with one cable this is the cable that allows you to remove your keys from your ignition once the car is in park..I just pushed the cable in and Taped it there. Next id put in your new shifter cables and shifter assembly. after that id go and tackle the pedals the new break pedal will bolt right up...In my car (96Tsi) i pulled out a section of carpet and the holes for the Clutch were already there..but you will half to cut out a section for the master cylinder to come through the fire wall. this is pretty simple there are dimples in the fire wall that let you know were it should go. once you have that drilled out mount the clutch pedal and master cylinder (the holes for the master cylinder resivour should be there already).

Under the hood id start by removing the old trans torque converter and drive plate. bolt in the new flywheel clutch and new trans this is all pretty simple nothing you will half to modify. Mount the slave cylinder and run the clutch line. Next the shifter cables attach them to the trans. Now the cv joints can be tricky ive heard lots of storys were people tried to use there old cv joints or axles and they didnt fit...mine did so if your lucky yours will also. I used syncromesh by penzoil for the tranney fluid. 2 1/2 quarts. the only thing you will half to do with the wiring is jump your inhibitor switch its simple its the biggest connector you will have left that will not plug in to anything all you do is take a wire and jump the two black wires.. they are located in the center row the first and last wire in that row.

Other than that its break in time...500 miles no launching :rocks:
if i missed anything witch i dont think i did just pm me

First I'd like to start off by saying I am sooo amused by people that try to downplay the knowledge of others in the attempt to make them look stupid and make themselves look all knowing. I didnt realize we were still in grade school once we started driving cars. If you would have actually read the topic before you atempted bashing, he wanted Manual to Auto not Auto to Manual OOOPS ;) (hows that make you feel now?) I'm not going to debate with you. It's fine, Not hooked up no effects... It is a cosmetic issue not a functional issue bro. I seen it, and then done it on an MR2. Go sit in the Corner!:thumb:

Hmm....you might want to look at what dark_kid_racing asked me...before going off and acting stupid...and i wasnt trying to make you look dumb i just belive in doing things the right way...instead of the easy way :thumb:

Lazy wasnt being debated... You said it was wrong but, it does still work.

Yeah, put the clutch in and push the button as you shift into drive. Nice.
 What? What would be the purpose of doing that...

I'm looking to swap an auto trans in my 5spd awd race car. What do i need or should I say....what is recommended? I know i need the following: tranny,transfercase,4 bolt auto rear(i have 4 bolt now ..but it's 5spd),axles,tcu, wiring, console, etc. I'm shooting for 10.9's with new setup. My last setup got me best of 11.55@119 few years back. I wanna do some modifications to the trans to make the car 60ft better, more consistent, and of course reliability. I'm gonna be running pte gt3561 .63 a/r To4s comp cover.I really like Lee's GSX setup his car really opened up my eyes after watching video and wanna do the conversion.Recommend me the tranny upgrades. Thanks
