This intake manifold that came with the motor I bought has a tap already on the back side of the #4 runner. It was done by the previous owner. Is this a good spot to hook my MAP sensor for speed density to, or is it not close enough to the plenum to make a difference? It is the broken brass connector in the picture.

Anyone else have any input on this? I would like a for sure yes answer on this being okay or else I will just run a different manifold. But this is much less work is why I ask.

So for a 1g intake manifold what would be the ideal place? Tap in the space to the right of the emblem?

91stocker I was aware of that one but I was told by another builder that the plenum would be the most ideal spot to tap for the map sensor, but I've never seen it on a 1g intake mani.

Whoops. I edited my post and took out some info around that statement :p The 1g in the link in the 2nd post is my manifold.

Ah gotcha, what fitting did you use? Or does it come with the aem

And to the op, i dont if i would use that for a map sensor. It would be a fine spot for a dedicated line for a boost gauge maybe? I have no info on this though, just seems like the pressure reading would change to often in a runner.

There is some info somewhere on here showing how much better resolution you get from a dedicated plenum vac over teeing into the fpr vac. Much cleaner/smoother signal. Seems like the same idea here.

That spot he posted does go into the plenum. The 1g in that picture is my intake and it's been working perfectly. No issues with vibrations with it mounted directly into the manifold (using solid front/rear roll stops and Prothane driver/trans mounts).

What he said.

Alright I might just use that for a boost gauge, that is what he had it for originally, and go ahead and tap the spot in the plenum. Im only going to be running this manifold for a little while until I can get myself some sheet metally goodness.
