manifold pressure sensor

I took my car to a shop to get looked at, and they told me to get an 02 sensor and a manifold pressure sensor.i found a o2 sensor for a good price now i am wondering where i can get a manifold pressure sensor, and what this sensor actually does?thanks.Shawn

I'm not sure what the pressure sensor does but I had to replace mine beacsue of a CEL, they aren't that expensive from the dealer.

really... here in canada, the mdp sensor for my car was $280 at the dealer. So... I didnt buy one.

I think the pressure sensor just lets your ecu know that your egr valve is working properly, by sensing the pressure drop in the intake mani that will coincide with the egr valve opening. So, if you block your egr, and you get no pressure drop, you get a cel.

yeah, canadian... and yeah, its a lot. If I ever decide to get a new one... I may need to hire an american to get it for me.
