Make more headroom

As many of you know, the 2g eclipse is very low on headroom. Me, being 6'1'', had a very uncomfortable position when inside the car. I would either lay way back or do the gangsta lean. Being a sunroof model the headroom was even less. When autocrossing, the helmet made it even worse. I thought about buying a racing seat from sparco or corbeau. Anyways, I found a solution by mutilating the stock power seat.

What I did was take the seat out of the car, take the leather cover from the lower seat cusion off. Then, remove the foam padding, and take out the springs from the seat frame. After that, I put the leather cover back on, and viola my head no longer touches the roof. I just thought I'd share this cause it was free and gained me about 4 iches of headroom. The power seat still works as well.

haha so instead of your head getting hit, you butt is going to be sore. How is the ride, stiffer? sounds like removing the padding makes you look like you would be sitting on the floor almost.

So you took out the springs and put the padding back in? Does the leather still fit tight or does it look all loose now? Also, is there a big gap between the bottom of the backrest and the seat cushion? Pics?

Yes because of the lack of head room, I'd never buy another 2g with a sunroof!

Haha, yeah my butt does not get thaaat sore. Besides, id rather have my butt be sore than my spine all out of whack. I didn't put the foam back in, i could if i wanted to, but it would be about 2 inches thicker. I'm going to cut some thin cardboard and fit it to the aluminum frame. The leather cover does look sloppy, but oh well I'm going for function, it was kinda ripped anyway. I'll get some pics later today.
