will a 4g63 with a fully built head and stock bottom make more power than a fully built bottom and stock head

i know a built bottom will handle more power but which will make more power

my question is to either 7bolt or 6bolt motor

Too many variables involved like compression but theoretically, all a built bottom end does is make it handle more power.

the reason I ask is i only have money to build either or and a 500 hp fwd car is kinda point less no traction so i wanted to build the most efficient 350 to 400hp motor

Build a freshened up stock bottom end, and add the correct set of cams to complement the cfm that the turbo can put out. You can get there with a stock motor, an EVO III turbo, 650 injectors and a set of Comp 200's. If the bottom end is in good shape, has low leakdown and strong compression then you can just work on the top end of the motor.

Hell, you could leave the head and intake alone and still make that much power with an all stock motor and head, cams and the right turbo. It's all about tuning on these motors as opposed to just throwing parts at them.

Good luck,

Andy

thanks guys, now i've been doing some reading and some of it says some of the cam setups require valve springs and retainers is this true?

also my block is almost done it a 7bolt(stock)(never had crank walk- new crank and bearings and pistons and balnace shaft eliminator.

and what cams do you guys recommend i've been looking at hks or crower

well if your only aiming for no more than 400 then just worry about upgradeing your fuel system and turbo and tuning and you should get it with that. Plus whatever free mods. Look in the tech guide for stage 1 and that should put you in the area where you need to be. The only way your making more power from the bottom is increasing the displacement, and ported polishing and boreing out the cylendors or lightening the crankshaft.

My internals are built more so for insurance but im only aiming for a power output with the same goal as yours, i dont feel i need more than 400... Especially 400 to the wheels, and mines is fwd too and it would be so sloppy on the road.
