HELP!!!Will an EPROM CHIP make much more POWER????

I am currently running a heavily modded 1g with 880cc injectors and no tuning equipment besides the assistance of a MAF translator!!!! I am going to upgrade to an eprom with a chip and am wondering if you really pick up that much more HP?????? I would think it helps but what would be expected? 5 hp, 20 hp, 50 hp, 100hp?????? thanks for any input

It all really depends on what company you go with and how well they tune it to your car, but just to be on the safe side, I would not expect much more than 25 hp!

Not so much the "bolt on" horsepower you'll gain, its the fact thats its much easier to tune! Especially once you get into bigger injectors, anything over 550's on a MAFT i'd recommend getting chipped or use an S-AFC/DSMLink.

I happened to look at my extra computer out of a 94 eclipse 2.0 n/t 5 speed and it is an eprom ecu so i checked my daily driver and so happens to be one also.Is this common for this model year or am I very lucky ?? .. Is there anything that can be done to this ecu for the n/t cars..I looked into the DSMLINK but says its for turbos only..Thanks If you would like #'s off it I can get them..

As far as the computers having replaceable eeprom's. Most all 1st gen's have them, so no you did not just get lucky. Also they are not interchangeable froma N/A to turbo.

The eprom is a great upgrade to get around a lot of the stock limitaions put on it out the factory. Boost cut, fuel cut, running rich due to throwin in those bigger injectors say bye to all that. Injector compensation no fuel cut no boost cut and a bunch of other things like increased rev limit in case you geta bigger turbo or cams or even both so you can take advantage of the power your makin past your stock powerband. The eprom is not like those cheap timing chips or resistors you see on ebay the eprom is a great tool to get you in the ballpark of where you need to be. Like the other guys said though using a SAFC or if you wanna be real slick dsm link in conjunction with a eprom ecu will get you that tune you really want.

thanks for the replies everyone!!!!!! Could anyone tell me if increasing your fuel and timing maps on the eprom will make much of a difference at all???? From what I can come up with, the timing map should be fine since it will continue the end timing value which I think is 22 degrees if you were to exceed the limits of your map.... As for the fuel map, I don't know what type of benifit an expanded map would have?????? Please let me know what you think!!!!! Lastly, let me know what would be the proper injector deadtime for 880cc injectors, I have read that 420 is good for 880's and 380 for 850's...... I do look around so please don't try to kill me for not doing that, I am mainly thinking there might be someone who has done this for 880's(delphi injectors) or have a little extra knowledge in there head than the average man!!!!! thanks again

I'm not sure if TMO still makes chips anymore though. I know you used to be able to send them your ecu and they'd install it for you, but they don't do that anymore.

It can make your car run the way it supposed to be. I burn my own eprom chip using moates Burn1 hardware. check yahoo -dsm ecu- group for more information.
