So I am finally making a large purchase on a lot of parts, just want to see if you guys think there is anything else I can add without touching the turbo(thats next year) and without touching the engine internals too much. My 5th gear and reverse just went out on me so I figured I might as well do some major work.

Lets start off with what I have so far:
1999 GSX 75000 miles
HKS SSBV (Recirculated)
VR SPEED Intercooler(not installed)
Injen Intake
CatBack
MagnaCore 8.5
Fresh NGKBP6RES

What I purchased

DriveTrain:

  • Custom Tranny from www.jackstransmissions.com (great customer service)
  • Act 2600 With Oraganic Street Disk MB1-XTSS
  • ACT StreetLite Flywheel
  • B&M Short Throw
  • Prothane Motor Mount Inserts
  • OEM Clutch Pivot Ball
  • OEM Release Fork
  • SS Clutch Line (Slave to Master)
  • Slave Cylinder Extension Rod
  • Symborski Shifter Kit
  • Shifter Cable Stiffeners Bushings Kit
  • OEM MAster Cylinder
  • OEM Slave Cylinder
  • 2 QT Heavy Duty Shockproof Oil
  • 3 QT EVO MR Gear OIL part #mz313376

Maintenence:
  • Gates Timing Belt
  • OEM A/C, Alternator, Power Steering belts
  • OEM Water Pump
  • Gates Balance Belt
  • OEM Balance Tensioner
  • Idle Pulley
  • Tensioner Pulley
  • OEM Tensioner

MPerformance & Accessories:

  • JM Large Catch Can
  • AEM Wideband
  • AEM Tru Boost
  • Triple A Pillar Mount
  • Custom DP

I realize the limitations of the stock turbo but I want to wait until next year to jump into that ball game. Let me here some opinions and ideas.

Thanks

Some other cheap ideas,
fuel filter
fuel pump rewire
PCV valve

Other than that looks like you got a pretty good list.

You really will have no need to upgrade your turbo until you start upgrading your fuel system, and until you have a method of logging and tuning... I don't know if you have any of this, but it seems some of your mods/intended mods are pretty much pointless without these.

Thanks for the quick responses guys.

Like I said I am not planning on upgrading the turbo until next year that is a whole different ball game; ecu, dsmlink, headers, fuel system, etc.

What I am trying to accomplish right now is to build a solid foundation and get it redy to accept a turbo upgrade come next spring. I plan on turning the boost up to around 13-14 on the stock and that will suffice just fine for now. Also i need to break the tranny in so no going fast for at least 500 miles anyways! :|

All of the rubber pieces on your car are over ten years old and not to be trusted.
RRE sells a "Larson hose Kit" with silicone tubes to replace all of the old rubber vacuum lines. For no extra cost you can get a little under hood bling.

The radiator and heater hoses are probably old and cracking, but easy to get to.

Replacing the rubber brake lines at each wheel with stainless lines will give a better brake feel and a warm fuzzy feeling when thinking about how much pressure the old hoses can hold.

I replaced the fluid in the transfer case and rear differential at about 120K.

While you are replacing the timing belts it would be a good time to replace the crank pulley. They are notorious for failing. Just count the threads on this site about squealing belts.

Which Jacks tranny? I have the stage 2 with taller 5th. Love his warrenty. 1 year, unlimited milage and doesn't matter if you race or not :hellyeah:. Everything sound good.

I would prob. switch out the short shifter and shift kit for more maitence things for now since those items are more for comfort. Instead of the AEM I would get the Innovate LC-1 wideband. Can get them cheaper on ebay and is overall a better WB. Some dissagree though. Make sure the boost gauge reads up to 30psi. I bought a 20psi gauge and wish it went higher now because of creep and spike. And at least get a manual boost controller so you can tune up the boost a bit on the t-25

I went with stage 2 plus Evo 1st, 3rd, 4th, also 1-4 double synchroed, what do you think about the taller 5th? I was pondering on whether or not to select it but I'm not sure it would benefit me any.

Thanks

I wish I got the evo gears...Just felt I didn't have a need for them. Oh well :ohdamn:. The taller 5th is nice, drops the RPMS down about 500 or so and helps save a little gas ROFL. If you need 5th for racing, you're too slow LOL but it'll work just the same if you are a little higher in rpms on 4th when you up shift. The double syncro gears are so nice. That was a big difference to me.

Just like boost92awd said
fuel filter
fuel pump rewire
PCV valve and radiator and heater hose kit is really important. You dont want to be driving down the road and having one of these break.
