I been lookin at web sites and I see all the diffrent upgrades, like Level 1 and 2(There are some on this website)

I was wondering if there is a level 3 upgrade path anywhere similar to the 1 and 2's on this website.

Also, what makes any upgrade the stage that it is? Are there any regulations? Or just people call them that? Or maybe its just common knowledge?

Thanks for responses.

id imagine itd be like head work, mor in depth tuning, different more expensive stuff like that...i guess a 2.4 stroker would be a stage 3

yay! I had a good idea! So no one answered me yet thouygh, how do you determine between stage 1 and stage 2?

oh, and you mixed the links up. The one listed for 2nd is actually 3 and 3's is actually 2. Just pointing out for people!

Stage one mods are basically just your simple bolt-on's and just first few things to get your feet wet...

Stage two is you getting a little deeper and more "intimate" with your car and now it's going to need tuning and supporting modifications for your stage 1 mods.

*fixed it.
Thank you.

Don't stage mod it's the worst idea in modding. Because a lot of the time you have you replace parts(MONEY DOWN THE DRAIN) parts you could have bought right the first time. You can do it with just about everything too.

Take the engine. say yoru engine goes and you look at some "stage" chart and it says stage 1 use 1g big rods a 2g pistons and then after 6 months, yes it happens that fast, you want more and you find a good deal on a big turbo like a 3065 or something and you change your mind and want to build a stage 3 car. Well guess what your fressly built stage 1 short block while you can get by is a liability. The stock bottom end is good for a lot of power but that's not the point.

Injectors and tuning are even worse. I see a lot of guys spend 200 on a safc then 200 on a maft setup then 350 on a keydriver chip setup right there you have wasted your money. That's $750 for a setup that is limited compared to dsmlink which you can pick up as a package(eprom ecu chip and cable) for in the classifieds.

The most torious stage parts that get you in trouble though are turbos. I upgrade turbos without even have used the turbo i'm upgrading from. So do a lot of guys thus you see the I picked up this turbo and changed my mind went bigger/smaller ads. I bought my SBR GT14 a 1300 dollar turbo with oil feed for 900 off a guy cause he changed his mind. So in a nut shell he lost 400 bucs.

ANyway to end my ranting...pick a goal that you think is a good ultimate goal even if you don't plan on getting to it overnight and keep that goal in mind when you buy a part. I'm not syaing don't buy a turbo untill you have enough saved up to get a gt42r but keep in mind that if you buy a 16g and think your goal is gonna be 450whp your probably barking up the wrong tree unless your one bad ass builder and in that case you wouldn't be reading this anyway cause you would know it already. That's my .02
