upgrades

ive been thingking about my upgrade path, and i dont thingk im on the right track. or maby im just not sure. im the kind of guy to do supporting mods before i go strait to the boost. my current path is this. clutch masters 2500, fidanza flywheel, MAFT, 3" gm MAS and 70a avid motor mounts. these all will address currant issues and give the car some longevity. what do you guys thingk of this. if its good what should i do next?

What kind of issues are you having? Is the clutch out on the car and the motor mounts worn?

That's all fine, you just want to make sure you do fuel mods BEFORE the turbo so you can run it properly. What was with the motor mounts?

man, there all most all dry roted and super old. the engine moves alot even with a little bit of throttle, im planing on making 400hp so i realy want the mounts to hold up. im just going to replace them before its gets worse

Not knocking on it or anything but you don't ever need a aftermarket fuel rail. Just a waste of money imo. Are you getting a AFPR? What turbo are you going to run to reach that 400hp goal? What do you have to tune with?

You'll want to get those replaced ASAP. 3 options for inserts, you can go with prothanes, energy suspension or if you can contact BigLady (and talk with him) get some solid inserts. The prothanes are a little stiffer than the ES bushings from what I've read. STM also sells a complete replacement mount as well STM: AVID RACING BILLET ALUMINUM MOTOR MOUNTS | 90-99 DSM

Fuel before turbo and fuel mods will even help out the stock turbo as well. Your injector size will be dependant on what turbo you want to run and if you plan on running E85 or not. Fuel rails are NOT needed as the stock rail flows a lot but the new Magnus rails look great. Make sure it's an adjustable fuel pressure regulator you are getting. You'll want an inline fuel filter as well. Are you doing -6AN from tank to rail?

What tuning program are you going to use? SAFC will not work with anything over 750cc injectors. If you go with ECMLink, it logs knock and you can also convert your stock boost gauge into a "knock gauge" through the program.

injectors are going to have to wait for a bit, im geting the 4 peice avid motor mounts with 70a inserts. fuel rail, ya ive allready got it so no turning back now but i got it for real good price, its a obx2 for 90bux. i got a 255 walbro, 6an fpr kit, and clutch masters 2500 on the way. im also geting a gm mas and maft soon. once all of these are on ill choose my tuning device. somthing not to exspensive but worth my money. i dont know what to get. any pointers?

I'll ask why you got the maf and maft. What are your goals with the car? You did do all mainteniance and repairs first right? Even though you already got it, the stock fuel rail flows enough for what ever you can throw at it and most aftermarket fuel rails have a smaller ID than the stock rail. Your -6AN kit, you got an AFPR with that to control the 255 pump?

of course ive done maintenance. i dont want the car to die on me. ive just got one more problem with the car, its runs really crapy for a few mins then goes to a normal idel.. i think its my mas so im just replacing with a maft and a gm mas. yes i got the FPR kit to help control what is going to be a high fuel pressure system with the 255 on it. im not really making a strickly 400hp dsm, im making a full up strip car that will be my DD also, to me if its not a DD its not worth the time and money. what ever hp i will get is beyond me. i wont ever be happy till i break the world record for street legal dsm. and probly not even then. not joking either, i get super competitive on the track. i used to run my wifes turbo pt cruzer just to destroy mustangs on the track.... im just going from the bottom up with this car. ive even planed up to a hx-40 holset and a stage 3 ported head with 272 cams. im sure ill have to go with a full on stroked 4g63 eventuly. idk im just starting and dont want to go back over anything 2-4 times before its right .. you know what i mean. fuel, management, internals, head, turbo, or something of that affect will be my path. with all the little things in there to.
