is there any differences in installation of the maf translator on a 6 bolt swapped dsm.

ive been searching and cant find this information.

i know on a 1g setup it hooks to the cam angle sensor, the single wire. and i was told on a 2g it hooks to a wire on the ecu harness.

so a 2g with a 6bolt swap, how to hook that nugga up?

I got my setup second hand and has NO paperwork. I was told its already setup for stock injectors, but i dont really wanna throw it in and go with it.

I thought that on vendor's websites I saw two different versions, one for the 1G one for the 2G I might be wrong however, and in that case someone who has more knowledge on this please chime in.

Right, I saw this aswell.

of course the difference would be the plug for the stock MAF connector. The 1g cars have a single wire you solder into the CAS harness if im not mistaken. and the 2g cars has a wire you solder inline with the ecu?? i was told???

is this the same wire either way, and since its 6bolt swapped i canz just put it on the cas harness like 1g install??

thnaks

you would get a 2g translator. the cas wire is for the RPM signal ( can be found elsewere on a 2g ) from what ive heard, you dont need to use that wire in the first place.

The white wire is to tune by RPM when you go WOT. If you tune that way, you can adjust your fuel maps at 3k, 4k, 5.5k, and 6.5k. The difference between the 1g and 2g translators is the connectors used for easier plug-n-play.

agreed, the only difference is the connector into the stock maf. I am running the 2G MAF-T with my 6bolt no problems.

can someone help me with this question. If the maft is put in the stock maf position will the car still be able to not stall....or vent and not stall?

Scott

to help not stall when you vent you place the gm maf between the throttle body and the bov. If its in the stock location, the metered air will still leave unmetered which will cause the stall.

I am actually going to run dual MAFT and safcII setup.

of course i guess ihave some rice in my blood, the maft is to vent.!!! haha.... but i guess that extra spool speed and flow is good too ;)

so you dont need the single wire. rpm signal wire. ok. ill just cap it off, espicially since i have the afc aswell.

Back in 2005 DSMLink was a little more expensive that it is today and I can't remember if the MAF-T PRO had come out yet.

To answer our newbie friend's question you want a 2G MAF-T so you can plug it into the factory MAF harness and so that it's settings are relative to a 2G fuel pressure and injector size. The 6 bolt has nothing to do with it as long as you set your AFPR to the stock 2G base pressure.

I'd skip the MAF-T and get ECMLink. You can either run the GM MAF native or run Speed Density. Both would allow you to vent your BOV.

Short n sweet answer, Buy what you need for your ECU and the MAF you had in there. So if your in a 2g with a 2g maf, obviously u need a 2g MAFT to put a GM maf in. I just did this to my 1g in fact. Except I had a 2g maf in there and had my eprom setup to accept the readout from the 2g maf. So when I installed the 3" GM AFM I had to make sure my translator was setup for 2g. Which I was dumb and did not do at first. However after talking to a friend, he reminded me my ECU was setup as reading 2g airflow, and thus I flipped one of the dip switches on my translator, and now my car is purrin like a kitten. And if you count the idle surge due to the FIAV being crap, it really does purr. LOL
