hello,
my friend just gave me a maft gen 2 for FREE! I am wandering since i researched it a little on some websites they dont have like a 1g versior or a 2g version its all one. So how does this thing work compared to a normal MAFT? I am thinking about selling it and just getting the normal one. Will this one plug into the stock mas senor like the other maft? OR do you have to wire it up like a AFC? any help would be appreciated very much since it didn't come with instructions! I may just sell it so if anyone is interested let me know!

I have one in my car. I like it so far. It has to wired up like an AFC. This does give you the same control of an AFC but not as pretty. It is also nice that adjustments can be done in car unlike the basic MAFT. You can hook up a wide band to it and see the number on the screen as well as tune by it. My favorite feature the WOT tracking, with a wide band hooked up you can set the unit to maintain a set air fuel ratio at WOT. When the next version of Dsm link with Maft support comes out I will get that but for now it is too expensive if you have to have a translator and link together.

If you are not interested in running a Maft and already have and AFC sell it. I will also work with just about any maf. If you wanted to put a EVO Maf in and or even keep the 2g Maf and just want to be able to adjust fuel this should work.

It all depends on your goals as to what you should do. But it looks like you plan on going DSMlink or even AEM EMS. If you go DSMlink, I would say get the regular MAF-T. If you go AEM, you wouldn't need either. So think ahead and try and plan out your purchases that way you don't buy things twice or install things that you can get rid of later down the road.

It's funny that this thread just came up. I'm thinking about purchasing a MAFT because I don't want to waste money on an AFC when eventually I'd like to get DSMlink (I can't afford it right now). I want something now that I can control A/F so that I can put in larger injectors, upgrade my fuel system, and run higher boost levels. I figured I'd go with at MAFT setup since I'd also like to run blow through and this way my purchase of a MAFT wouldn't be a waste.

I was looking at getting the Gen II over the original because it looked to have more tuning capabilities, but I'm not that well-versed in MAFT. With that being said, would it be a worth getting the Gen II or would the orginal MAFT work just as well?

I want to know about this too. Is there anyone that uses only the maft gen 2 and a wideband/logger to tune?

I use it on my car with 660's. I have an innovative wideband. I have the WOT set to 10.5 and forget about it. I have been really happy with it and it is a very good tuning unit. It is the best you can get for a piggy back in my opinion. I can put any maf in there and the damn thing will run. I could run on a supra maf, evo maf or whatever.

I use a logger to tune and can use a the AFR on the screen with no logger at all in a pinch. I really enjoy not having to have a laptop to tune especially in a pinch. I also have never lost my settings and don't have to worry if i need to tune the fly. I use the palm to do in depth tuning. The laptop does come out every one in a while if I am going to the race track. If i am going to the road course for a De, I set the WOT to 10.5 and tune the mid points for no knock.

You mention the "laptop" and the use of a Palm for tuning. I'm assuming you have Link as well? Or, is this somehow used with MAFT Gen II? Also, how big of injectors can the GEN II properly handle?

I use MMCD on the palm and use the old TMO logger on the laptop. I do not have link yet. When they come out with maft support built in i will get it. I think the maft actually has a cable they sell for logging with Tunerpro rt. But it is very limited. If you can the put the input for the WBO2 into the maft then you can tune to an AF ratio. The max it will handle will probably be 750-770 unless you have an Eprom that has the fuel compensation already in your ecu.

HELP!!

What are the settings in your maft2. The settings have to be correctly and the correct mafs set in the menus. Sounds like that part has not been selected.

I had problems with this originally.. Didn't realize the input had to be set on the GM 3" MAFT and the output had to be on 3S/2g DSM. Sounded like a v8 when it idled before I figured this out. Hope this helps.
