Picked up my 2nd none running dsm project. First one went well so had to get a hard one. Winter daily. 95 5spd tsi.

It has a maf translator installed version 1.37. I have been searching the internet for hours and can’t fined instruction for the early 1.37 version.

It’s pretty stock with the standard bastardized stuff gauge’s everywhere, wiring messes from subs and extra speakers. I got that all cleaned up.

It had a crusty fuel system so I got a fresh awd pump hanger assembly and sending unit and walbro 255 came with. It’s got a lil pressure regulator on it (no gauge, I ordered one) and stock injectors. I pulled the whole system apart a cleaned everything and had to get a injector, one was toast. Now, running it’s rich. Like bad rich. I pulled the ecu and it’s eprom but no link.. I have a stock maf but I feel the 255 will still throw everything off. I could get a black box ecu and tune that but the price of link makes it not justified on this pos

Thank you
Damon

If the Walbro 255 is overrunning the FPR you won't be able to tune that out, MAF, MAFT, or DSMLink. To get a proper tune the fuel pressure needs to be stable and track manifold pressure 1:1.

The fix is a good adjustable FPR and in some cases modifications to the return line into the tank.

It’s got a aftermarket regulator but it’s a lil one on the end of the rail. I put my old lm2 data logger on the car last night, the car was throwing a o2 heater circuit code so now I need to figure that out.

Back in the dark ages people who didn't know what they were doing bought B&M CommandFlo FPR modifiers that replaced the diaphram of the factory FRP to make it adjustable. The problem was these still used the original valving and return port so still suffered from overrun with high flow pumps. For DSM's they were pretty much worthless. If you have one consider getting a better AFPR.

There was also the ChargedAir/SpoolinUp AFPR that was popular because it was cheap for awhile. It had problems tracking 1:1 and bad dynamics. I can't find a picture ATM and mine is in the bottom of my tool cabinet back in Chicago.

The car has an aftermarket adjustable regulator that is bolted to the end of the rail. I have a really nice aeromotive kit siting on a shelf but it’s cost half of this cars cost. I’m waiting the gauge kit before I even try to tune it at all with this maf t

The only big thing I’ve read that I have no idea how to monitor is the factory fuel correction factor. I know that’s a thing you are/need To be careful of with the maf t. I read somewhere needed to be 100% or 0 but I’ll figure that out before I get to deep. Cars water pump is dead so I’ll get a new timing set and pump on it this upcoming weekend.

Bigger current problem is my factory o2 isn’t heating and my heater wire isn’t showing any voltage
