I'm considering a MAFTPro in speed density mode or a MAF-T in blow-thru to tune my 1G automatic. I have what I consider realistic, reliable goals of 300awhp over the next couple years, and believe either would be sufficient. Anyway I have read about using the compensation features of these tools when using 550s, 650s, etc.

My question is regarding this compensation and compatibility with the auto ECU when configuring these for injector size. Where does the computed compensation come from? Is it computed against an internal map of the device that expects an ECU looking for 450s? I'm wondering if it's even possible to set these devices to 650s or 550s and then compensating by dialing out 60cc of fuel since the auto ECU runs maps for 390s.

I'm also thinking I might not understand this whole thing completely and might be looking at this from the wrong angle. I just want to make sure I buy the right tuning setup and don't blow my stuff up. Any insight you can give is appreciated.

Thanks!

As long as your tune w/ a logger and are watching whats going on, you'll be fine. Just keep a close eye on things.

You can set either of them to any size injector. But, both are to be used in conjunction with the GM sensors. They are not tuning devices alone. If you are only looking for 300HP you don't need the GM sensor. For what you would spend on a GM setup you would be very close to the price of DSMLink. The Link is by far the way to go. You can tune much better than either of these devices and you have other options as well. Not to mention, it is logging software as well. Don't get me wrong, I have the GM setup on my car. But I have higher HP goals than you do. I also have DSMLink and would suggest it to anyone.:D

you can also run maft in conjunction with the link too if that floats your boat. By far, the maft is the best flowing setup though.

Thanks guys, that's definitely what I needed to hear. I think I'll go for DSMLink now and add the MAFT later on. I checked out their site and it looks pretty straightforward to tune with the Link.

Yea, it really doesn't get any easier then a tuning program made for YOUR car. Thats why people love dsmlink so much because of all the features and compadability.
