Lower control arm recall advice HELP!

I'm sure this has been discussed before, if so sorry. But i need some advice in regards to getting my front lower control arm/ball joint replaced under a recall. I contacted all the Chrysler dealers in the Chicago land area even the original dealer that the my car was purchased at which just so happens to be 5 miles away from my place.
Anyway everyone of the dealers that i have contacted told me that I'm out of luck and they can't do anything for me. I even explained to them that it is a safety related recall so it doesn't expire so they have to fix my car but again they refused to do anything for me. When i gave them my VIN number they told me they cant even find my car in the system.
This is starting to piss me off to be completely honest, also i commute 35 miles daily and its starting to become a little intimidating.

But please any advice would be very much appreciated in regards to making the dealer fix my car under a recall.

VEHICLE DESCRIPTION: PASSENGER VEHICLES. IF THE RUBBER BOOTS ON THE LOWER LATERAL ARM BALL JOINTS OF THE FRONT SUSPENSION WERE DAMAGED DURING ASSEMBLY, DIRT AND WATER CAN INTRUDE. ALSO, MMC HAS ADDED THE POTENTIAL OF LEAKING MOISTURE, WHICH CAN CAUSE THE BALL STUD TO CORRODE.

Defect Consequence:
THIS CONDITION COULD CAUSE THE LOWER LATERAL ARM BALL JOINT TO SEPARATE, INCREASING THE RISK OF A VEHICLE CRASH. THIS CAMPAIGN SUPERCEDES MMC'S PREVIOUS SAFETY RECALL CAMPAIGN, SEE 99V-066.

Remedy:
DEALERS WILL INSPECT THE LOWER LATERAL ARM BALL JOINT FOR WEAR. BALL JOINTS THAT EXHIBIT WEAR BEYOND THE ESTABLISHED TOLERANCE WILL BE REPLACED WITH NEWLY DESIGNED LATERAL ARM BALL JOINTS. BALL JOINTS THAT ARE WITHIN THE ESTABLISHED TOLERANCE WILL BE CLEANED AND A SPECIAL SEALANT WILL BE APPLIED TO PREVENT INTRUSION OF MOISTURE.

Just an update, I paid the dealer a visit today and talked with the service manager and he told me that evidently the recall expired for the front lower control arm. But I tried to explain to them that it was a safety related recall and that it shouldn’t expire.
After that the manager told me that all I can do is contact the manufacture (Chrysler).

When talking to Chrysler I found out that my car had the passenger control arm replaced November of 2006 under the recall. BUT five years later that SAME control arm and ball joint are going bad and they told me that they cannot replace it because it has already been replaced. Which I find to be complete BS. If I can convince them to get my car fixed they will contact the dealer and I get it fixed, but it seems like they are giving me a run around.

I even called the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) in Washington D.C. in regards to recalls but they told me that it’s all up to the manufacture.

What can I do to get my car repaired? Because that doesn’t sound right the one that was replaced under recall in 2006 went bad again. How can I get the manufacture to agree to let the dealer fix my car?

I think you're out of luck since it was already replaced once, presumably with the new design.

On a related note... it's probably time to admit that you own a DSM, roll up your sleeves, and get to wrenching on it yourself.

Damn i think you're right, i will try and tackle it in a few weeks i guess.

Ever since i got the car a little over a month ago i have had nothing but problems with the car. Fix one thing, and you get five new ones

Don't wait a few weeks.

The part is ~$30, order it tonight and receive mid next week. Install same day, takes 20min. Then go get an alignment. And yes, you have to.

Buy a Chiltons and Haynes manual on your 2g talon, do some reading on the tech write ups on dsmtuners or 2gnt.com. Learn try do it yourself, the write up on 2gnt gives a list of tools needed, not sure about on here but this will save you some cash.

Back when i had my 95 tsi it started that as well.I just smacked some grease in it and called it a day.I put more in it every time i changed my oil.

I appreciate your experiences, however, no one should actually do this. Re-greasing may stave off catastrophic failure, but only until some other inopportune moment that could still kill you.

Agreed.

Any time you have suspension joints that are worn and out of spec, they need to be replaced. Brakes and suspensions aren't something to **** around with.

I picked up the new front lower lateral control arm today from Carquest. I will hopefully attempt to install it this weekend. Now do you guys have any advice is to how to go about replacing it? It looks like you just have to remove two bolts and unbolt the ball joint and the assembly should drop down.
But i'm not 100%
