6 bolt swap, rebuilt, and new oil pump and no balance shafts....the oil presure is between the low 2 marks at idle and doesnt go up as it is revved up.....the balance shafts were removed and the machine shop pressed the bearings in there...now the thing is we dont know if they lined up the holes or not....if they are lined up would this cause this much of a drop in oil pressure? its supposed to be between the middle 2 marks....the car doesnt tick or knock or anything...and runs pretty damn smoothly.....would turning those bearings up the oil pressure that much?

IMO yes - The Front Balance Shaft Bearings are fed directly off the Main Oil gallery of the Motor... I would assume the Machinist was specifically directed to put the bearings in so they block the Ports? Otherwise he would of course orient them Stock...

You should check your Oil pressure Relief Valve also.

I'm catching hell trying to post the damn pic but Behind the Gauge Sending Unit (the gold bell) in the pic of the Oil Filter Housing in my Gallery is a large Cap/Bolt, behind it is a spring & a little poppet that should drop out, That is your Oil Pressure Relief Valve.

The Oil Filter Housing is a completely Seperate part / Assembly from the Front Case or Oil Pump. This would be much easier than going back in & re-orienting those Front B/S Bearings... so if I were you I'd hope this is it...

& BTW - If you don't even know what OR where something is what YOU "think" isn't it doesn't matter much - does it?

Not to state the obvious, but why not ask the machinist if he had put them in "stock oriented".... I bet he knows how he put them in. If he didn't block them it would most definately mess with your oil pressure. In fact one of the plus sides of the BS removal is supposed to be HIGHER oil pressure.

yea theyre lined up...we took it all apart....we're just gonna put that one shaft back in...instead of tryin to press out the bearings...they dont seem to budge

shop accidently unplugged the sensor wire to mine. easy fix try that

I changed out my 7-bolt engine last summer for a 6-bolt after it spun 2 rod bearings, not wanting to worry about the balance shafts, and REALLY low on time i opted to do the "low budget" version myself. I just got the freeze plug in with JB WELD to plug the the front shaft hole, cut the shaft connected to the oil pump short and welded the hole to stop the oil. I Found a shorter bolt with good RTV sealant to plug the former balance shaft pully position and removed the balance-shaft bearings with a exact sized socket + extention and a hammer. I then reinstalled the same bearings as to block the oil passage because they were in goos shape still. It's been 1200 km's and a really good running engine and really good oil pressure.
