loud ticking when clutch is pressed

Hello all,

I notice an unusual ticking sound coming from timing belt and intake manifold when I tap on the clutch pedal. I know its not lifter tick as I have replace them with the 3g and the motor is pretty quite. The motor has 5k miles on it and was bought from Karking.com.

It only ticks when the clutch pedal is pressed in. You can hear it from the driver seat not loud like rod knocking. But is tick, tick, tick, tick, tick like lifter ticking but ONLY when clutch is pressed in.

Anyhelp is greatly appriciated.

Throwout bearing or over-extending the clutch pressure plate causing the clutch disk hub to hit the pressure plate fingers. Otherwise, you have something else going on like thrust bearing issues, etc.

My car did that and then it progressed to a grinding/scraping noise. Check all the bolts on your transmission. That small 12mm that goes in from the drivers side had backed out on my car. This caused the rear trans mount to loosen up. The trans was rocking around and damaged the clutch disc. Like he said above me, the disc will bend and the springs will start rubbing/grinding themselves out of place.

God, I hope its not crankwalk. Another new motor if it is. Anyhow, I'll check my tranny bolt tonight.
