3g lifters ticking

The motor was finally finished today, I decided to go with 3g TopLine revised lifters after reading many member having good luck with these, during initial start up and up until 20 miles..there is some pretty loud ticking noise. I did drop in new valves as well and the lifters were properly bled.
Is there a certain mileage the tickers quiet down or is this how they normally are?

I used ITM 3g lifters from partsdinosaur.com when I replaced my 1g ones and I don't even think I bled them properly (it was one of my first fixes years ago before knowing anything about cars) And IIRC they ticked for like maybe 5 seconds and then were nice and quiet. You may need to contact whom you purchased them from and get another set under warranty. Blue Point makes a tool that you can push the rocker up and the valve spring down to replace the lifters without taking everything apart. I used this when I did mine. Hope ya get it all figured out and hopefully its something easy like the lifters making noise and not something more serious making the noise.

i was told that once you install new lifters they would tick like hell for a while on initial start up

Ya my itm 3g revised lifters ticked pretty bad for about 20 min after I installed them, they will tick at first, but 20 miles seems like they should have shut up by now, you sure its the lifters?

what kind of oil pressure do you have? my standard lifters didnt even tick after a rebuild but got real bad when I started having oil pressure problems

OP.. are you stilla 7 bolt or did you swap in a 6 bolt bottom end and keep the 7 bolt head?

I don't have an oil pressure gauge at the moment to determine pressure, however we were having problems getting rid of the oil pressure light when cranking the motor to create pressure, it literally took us like 20-30 before the light went away.
I stayed full 7 bolt.

you may have a weak oil pump

It's a brand new OEM oil pump tho

could have a weak spring in it.

you may have fogotten/flubbed the pick up to pump gasket

a small gasket that fits between the oil pump and the pick up tube.

it is easier to pump air than oil.

so if that gasket is missing, the pump will suck air into it rather than oil

If you were just turning the car over, without the oil system being primed, I don't doubt it took 30 seconds before the oil light went out. I have cranked the car over multiple times, 10 seconds at a time, then about 10 seconds rest & the oil pressure light doesn't go out. Sounds normal to me.

Also, if you bled the new lifters down, its probably normal that their still ticking away. It normally takes abit before they quiet down & normally helps when you take it for a drive as well. Wait to you get some miles on it, they'll probably be fine.

Oh no, i purchased the OEM overhaul gasket kit and every gasket that came in the packet was used except for one extra oil return like gasket?
The pick up tube gasket was used.

Ill report back after some miles have been put on the motor, so far 53 miles and they are much quieter than start up.
