Loud sqeaking noise upon start up

Whats up fellas I got a 99 eclipse GST and everytime I start it there is a loud screeching noize for about 15 seconds then it stops completely. Assuming its a belt issue but strange that its only for a few seconds. anyone else have this problem? any suggestions on how to fix it? thanks

This sounds like a belt issue. It's either loose or worn. Check all belts, tighten and see if the noise goes away. If one is badly cracked or glazed over replace it.

It can also be your harmonic balancer going out (the rubber in it holding the 2 halves separating).

Actually the fact that its short lived isn't that strange. It's typical.

I experienced this exact thing and it was my alternator belt slipping at startup. It only did it on first start of each day after sitting all night.
