hey guys, i need help with this thing, im loosing alot of power, i decided one day to put ngk v power plugs in her, but before i did she ran great, i just thought these would better than the bosch platnums i had in it, well i went from wrapping the tach in 1st and 2nd gear really quick to struggling to get redline in 3rd and 4th gear i barely get 6,000 rpms, the plug wires have less than 12,000 miles on them, i dont know whats up with this thing but its agrivating the piss out of me, used to it would spin in secound gear when i hit it hard now it wont even try. please help.

Kind of obviously seems to be the plugs, doesn't it?

where do you get such crazy ideas?

have you tried putting the bosch back in?

yea i took and cleaned the boschs back up and put em in, also put new wires on it just factorys, put the stock airbox back on with a new filter cleaned out the throttle body with throttle body cleaner and a tooth brush, and it got a lil better but not much.

Then i went to advanced auto parts and got a bottle of outlaw injectore cleaner and a bottle of octane booster and poored em both en there with about half a tank of fuel and shook the car to mix it up and it got better for a little while then i lost my performance again.

But heres what im thinking, since ive got my power in the lower rpm like i did before and i lose it in the higher rpm range it sounds like it not getting the fuel it needs for those high rpm runs, heres the things i thought it could be let me know if yall can think of anything else it could be. thanks.

1. fuel pump losing power or going out
2. fuel filter clogged
3. fuel pressure regulator needs to be replaced

i hope not, i dont think it is though, i dont have any oil leaking anywere and my head is clean, plus it doesnt run hot

:dsm: Same thing is happening to me. I have 1991 Eclipse Gs 2.0. Exact same thing. It has fixed it self like once or twice while i was diagnosing the problem but it went back to shaky, and slow. I doubt it is your fuel filter cuz i changed mine and it still dont work. I changed Spark plugs too but nothing. I Think it could be:

1 Fuel Pump
2 Ignition Coil

if you fix it plz reply

Try doing resistance checks on your coil, I highly doubt that coffee can of a fuel filter is injected, but try that too since what the hell, nothing wrong with good upkeep. If you put in new plugs and yoru car went to crap, you put old ones back in and they got a "little better" Then if i were you I would spend 8 dollars and get a set of 4 ngk's regular copper plugs. You may be running too hot of plugs. When i experimented with the hyped up denso iridiums I noticed a huge drop in fuel economy. So I run ngk coppers and it feels better. For a mostly stock vechicle I would stick with the basic plugs. IMO.

if the head gasket is bad it does not have to be leaking oil on or around the head. coolant could be getting in the cylinders. check your coolant 1st. make sure theres no oil mixed with it. if not. do a leak down test. if alls good then. Compression test that bad boy. is the car spitting or sputtering after second gear while your in the throttle. Let me know something after u read this. :thumb:

well i put the new filter on today, it got a little better but not much also put the stock airbox back on with a new filter, bit it still feels a bit sluggish, the coolant isnt running low nor is there any oil in it that i can tell, its not smoking except for when it idle for a long peroid of time due to valve giude seals, but i havent checked the coil pack yet, how do i do that and what should the reading be on it, i thought about ordering a msd coil pack with the msd wires.

hey guys im happy to say its running great again, i put the new fuel filter on it and it did feel abit sluggish but all day yesterday and today its been hauling ass and sounding good so im back up ant running good again, but i still cant redline 4th gear i can only get 112 at 6200 rpms
