I just got the aeromotive afpr, guage, and s/s return line install kit from slowboy. I have a few ideas on where I am going to install it but I would like to see what you did.

Thanks,
Ben

There's thread sealent on mine, I just did mine neatly and is from under the locking bolt down ;)
(and yes there was a good sized leak there before the sealent)

Daren, I see that you posted something very similar to this in my AFPR thread. I'm still checking everything at least twice a day, and it's still holding up. The only question I have is if the time comes, and I'll need to thread seal the adjusting bolt, will there be any issues in readjusting the bolt if need be after sealing it?

Did a pull and my O2 according to the SAFC is over 1.0v - eek!!
Sorry off-topic :coy: but needs to be said.
The S-AFC Blue Wire mod does not accurately display voltage plus it lowers the actual voltage the ECU sees thereby affecting LTFTs. Also 1.0V is off the scale rich AFRs so you need to take fuel out not add more.

Don't want to clutter this thread any more so please start another thread or PM me if you wish to discuss further ;)

Adjutments should not affect the sealant. I've tested this with both teflon tape and the liquid teflon (my favorite) thread sealants :dsm:

Things may seem fine but I'm 99% sure that you will find a leak there if you do a proper boost leak test. Mine was leaking enough that I could easily hear the leak during the test (didn't need to use the soapy water to find it). If I recall you said you had it set @ 43 psi with the vac hose & it pulls down to 39 with the vac hose. I think it should pull it down abit more (I'll check mine tonight, if I remember :D ), which would indicate a vac leak. To seal the thread just use some pipe dope. This is better then teflon tape & you should be able to re-adjust if need be without having to reseal it.

Mine also leaked till I used some sealant.
I like the neatness of the bushur bolt on.
And its about the same price as piecing one together
with the lines fittings and gauge.

I put this little setup together for $194.80 with the gauge, including shipping costs for various parts.:thumb:

Here is mine. I bought the firewall mount kit from Extremepsi and bought the FPR and gauge separate. I made my own bracket to mount it to the firewall.

I like the bolton but I dont know if there is enough room on a 2g for one.

And Tom your 16g has grown, nice:thumb:

Theres plenty enough room for a bolt on. Although I'm about the only one on here not using a Aeromotive unit, where as mine is a Fullthrottle unit, but it does bolt on with plenty of room on a 2g. :)

How many of you guys actualy race at the track?
Have the tech people ever said anything, have you not been allowed to run?

According to the safety rules the FPR has to be mounted to the engine/head/manifold and is not allowed to be on the firewall.

I race at the track (even my sig is at the track) and they ahve yet to say anything to me. I know countless others that have this same setup. Of course we are not running the "uber fast cars" but still, 11's and 12's are still teched at RMR via their rule book which is a nhra sanctioned track? Even the IRDC rule book did not state anything about not allowing the reulator on the firewall?

Just curious Sbiggi, what rule book are you refuring to? NHRA 2006? I will have to check that out when I get home if so.

Yeah, nhra.

I read it before, but its not in the "NHRA SportCompact Rules".
So maybe it doesnt apply then.

I have never received any greif over the FPR on the firewall but they rairly make me pop the hood for tech. They usually just check that I am wearing a Helmet at IRP in Indianapolis.

Tom, super 16g's are bada$$

I have been racing for years at tracks and have never had a track personel ask to see under my hood.

I wanted mine on the firewall, but didn't like having it so close to the two reservoir's I was able to 'adjust' the clutch reservoir bracket some and relocate it over to the corner.

The locals check under my hood every weekend and then some. This year they are looking in cars for laptops (possible ballistic issue if a crash occurs), so I guess its time to buy a toughbook and bolt it to the inside firewall. But RMR is a pretty safe track and has a great saftey crew, they actually patanted a neck/back board specifically designed for extracting drivers from kirby oval seats. So yeah, my hood gets opened every weekend. Better safe than sorry tho.

I like some the creative mounting ideas in this thread. Makes mine look plain and boring. And now many know to apply sealant to the adjustment bolt in aeromotive units.

Not exactly. The Aeromotive 13109 regulator does not accept NPT fittings, as the inlets are AN and require ORB (o-ring boss) fittings. And, he'll only use barb fittings if he doesn't want to use the stainless braided hose.

And instead of paying $30 for that extremely overpriced DSM fuel rail adapter, you could just run a 3/4-16 tap through the end of the rail, and then use another ORB fitting (part number XRP980068) in the end of the rail. That will save you $20 by itself.

I could put together a detailed list of part numbers, pictures, and diagrams of how to built your own AFPR kit, but it would all depend on what kind of hose you use and where the regulator is mounted. I'm feeling saucy today - I might do a tech write-up on it this morning.

write up would be a great idea, i know i can find those fittings at various sites, just wondering if you guys found the -6 an fittings anywhere local, oh and my aeromotive afpr says that they inlets/outlet are all 3/8 npt

I'm working on it right now.

I stand corrected. I am used to using the Aeromotive 13109, which has -6AN ports. And the ever-so-popular Aeromotive 13301 that one of our Vendors is selling in kit form, has 3/8" NPT ports.

So, I guess it depends on which regulator you are running.

Hey question guys. The port on the bottom of the aeromotive FPR's. The return port. I don't need to use that right? I just simply plug it. Because on the opposite side of the fuel rail is the return line going to the filter. So i simply place the aeromotive inline of the fuel feed line and the fuel rail.
