I just got the aeromotive afpr, guage, and s/s return line install kit from slowboy. I have a few ideas on where I am going to install it but I would like to see what you did.

Thanks,
Ben

Is this an NA car?

i was wondering the same since that's a rather odd looking intake manifold. looks like a 1.8 intake manifold on a dohc head. maybe its one of those 1.8 dohc hyundai motors somebody thought was a 4g63 or something, either way i'm confused.

No problem on the return line. Just run a straight 6AN fitting off the FPR down and curve your return line up to replace the factory line and clamp it. I just removed the timing belt cover for the install. I have put it back on and there was only a little corner piece I had to cut off which is no big deal. I used slowboy adapter's on the fuel rail instead of tapping it. I also used a 45* fitting on the other side of the fuel rail which attatches to a russell high flow fuel filter with 6AN fittings on both sides. Ran a 9ft line back to the tank and done. Made tuning so much easier.

Nope, it's an early 95' build date was april 04. Does it really look like a 1.8 intake?

Im sorry but I gotta jump in and say that this is a good thread :thumb:

It give us good ideas on how to mount the the FPR, on behalf on everyone who finds this useful I thank you guys who post their pictures and encourage more of you to keep them coming..!!!

DSMJim: your setup looks really nice and cost efective, have you ever had any leaks form the rubber fuel hose?
props.

well the manifold has the 2g shape and placement which is similar to the 1.8's lookswise, but with the ecu multi on it i thought it might have been a 2g since most the pics i see of 2g engine bays don't have that on them.

That is not a turbo intake manifold. That style came on 4g15's and 4g93's. Who did you buy the car off of? I would call them and start asking questions.

I meant to post this sooner but was in Phoenix using my cousins computer. This is the aeromotive afpr with the fittings slowboy sends out.

Wow it looks like a 1g has a lot more room behind the intake mani than a 2g. I wish I had that much room.

By the way my intake mani also says ECI multi and its is an early 95 made in 94 car. Another guy Mavisky and I know (Hop) said something to me about this being odd. I dont know what the deal is but thats what is says.

Thanks for all the pics guys.

ECI multi is a 1g intake manifold. Either Mitsu hooked you up from the factory or someone did an intake manifold/head swap on that engine. Either way your 1 step ahead of me. You should have plenty of room to mount the Aeromotive right in the middle which is where I originally wanted mine and will probably move once I do the head swap. :thumb:

well i just got done installing the same thing. For some reason SBR sent me 120 and 45 degree fittings? instead of sending them back for 90's i just went with them. I also grabed a 91-94fuel rail for a little more clearance.

Theres lots of room if you have the battery in the trunk. Right now I have the return line from the FPR clapmed on to the stock hard line. I plan on running a -6AN return line straight down and under the car in the same path as the feed line.

I didnt know you could mount the gauge there. Do you have a pic of the fitting that you used to do that. My guage was what was keeping me from installing on the firewall behind the intake mani (the gauge would hit the mani before the afpr would go all the way down.

I also got the 120 and the 45. They said those work better on a 2g and that they were out of stock on the 90's and they were backordered...

P.S. as far as I know my car has the original head and intake manifold but I could be wrong. Is there any other way to tell???

The one we are questioning is 100$ not a 1g 4g63t manni. If it is truly belonging to a 2g 4g63m then I have never seen one, but it looks 100% like a 4g93 (1.8) intake manni, which it probably is because they share the same head (for the most part)

I would check the mark on the left side of the head. There it should say 1.6, 1.8, or 2.0. Let me know what you find. The reason I asked when you bought the car is because DSM modders often throw 1.6 or 1.8 heads on 4g63’s because they are 1/5 the price of a 2.0 head and it will bolt on, especially if they are selling the car.

The down side is the exhaust ports are smaller then a 2.0 head.

Here is a pic of my 95 car with the eci multi intake manifold. Can you see the markings on the head with it still on the engine in the car?

Yeah, it is a part of the casting on the left (pass) side. THe main difference is the MAP sensor, but other than that. I think this is just factor equipment for a early model 95, because all the people who have posted pics that have this many have this particular year of DSM.

oh boy, those arent 1.8 intake mani's, they arent 1g mani's either. Those are stock 2g manifolds, just cause it says ECI MULTI on it and yours doesnt really doesnt matter. They made some that way and some blank.

Stoner: those solinoids you still have on your firewall for emissions will probably be in the way for mounting your AFPR like i mounted mine. To mount mine i used 1 threaded hole for a 10mm bolt that used to hold up one of those and the other side i used a sheet metal screw. If you have a B&M guage it comes with that banjo bolt to mount on your filter but if you look at it compared to the stocker its restricts flow so badly. So i took the 6AN 0-ringed cap for the un used port in the afpr and drilled straight through it the ID of the hole for the guage. then i drilled through a second larger hole the right size to tap it 1/8 NPT (you will have to look up that drill size i forgot) I took the second hole as deep as the hex part of the cap goes so it would still keep its integrity. Tap it for 1/8-27 npt and then put the 90 fitting that comes with the B&M guage in it. its still a tight squeeze for the guage but you can make it work. I would get the 1G rail to if you can gives you more room for the timing cover.

No, it is a Early Model 95 Manni ONLY, and never appeared on any other year 4g63t. That is why everyone is questioning it, because it is a "rare" part.

I will trade this "rare" part for a smim or sell for $400.00 to the first offer

Also I plan to use an egr blockoff plate and eliminate all emissions before I install the afpr :thumb:

No pic yet but I just finally got the bolt on AFPR that fullthrottlespeed.com had been having problems keeping in stock. I am ADDING my EGR when I insall he AFPR. I have heard too many good reasons to use the EGR than not.
1. better gas mileage!
2. cooler combustion chamber temps helping eliminate part throttle knock!
3. better emisions.
4. No loss of performance, becomes inoperable under WOT.
