Hi guys, I would just like to get some of your opinions on a car I found.

It is a 95 gsx that has been in a front end collision. As of now I have not gone to look at the car, I kinda want to know if its even worth my time to make the drive and check it out. The owner said it needed a new hood and radiator support. I would guess it needs a fender as well. What I am wondering is for 1800, would you buy a car like this and get it the parts/new paint it needs? Also, what common things could have got messed up in the collision that I would be looking to replace as far as the engine goes? I was thinking even if the engine needed a 1000 dollars worth of parts it wouldnt really be so bad. 1800+1000(engine)+1000(body parts)+1500 for a nice new paint job still only comes out to 5300.

Also, while we are on the topic, if the engine is in bad shape how much would it cost me to put a 1g engine in it? (as to avoid crankwalk).

Of course, this is all null and void if the frame isn't straight right?

ya the frame is probably going to be messed up - if so walk away...btw if you're not including the cost of the car in the $5300, I'd walk away, you can get one in pretty good condition for around $7k now if you're lucky some tsi awds sell for around $5k just check autotrader. If you were to ever look into reselling it, it would most likely have a Rebuilt Title or something along those lines...which would make the selling of it more difficult and would depreciate the price even more...

But check the car out first, I'm in the process of purchasing a 2g right now as well having trouble deciding b/w a fwd and an awd hopefully I'll decide soon.

Your best bet is to check autotrader, find a clean stock one near you and buy it might be a little more but will be worth it...

If you're not going to be doing a 6 bolt swap into it yourself and will let a shop or someone else do it for you, including the cost of the engine you'll be looking at anywhere from $1500-3000 for the swap...if you're going to get a dsm make sure you can do some of the work yourself and have a few friends (or other dsmers) that can help with the more difficult stuff - I am lucky here in Tampa we have a great dsm community that is willing to help me basically for free with anything...good luck to you though

Actually, that figure was including the price of the car. 1800 is the car. So that would be 5300 for everything, with new paint is what i figured.

mmm...that isn't a bad price...but then again you don't know how badly it is damaged...check it out first then take some time to decide...

you could probably find a 95 talon in good condition for around the same amount, maybe a little more.

Maybe if I lived on the east coast or a big city. As it stands now though, GSX's are hard to come by in the area. Spokane is a meduim city and pretty far from everything.
