Okay. here is my thing. I havent yet played too much with either forms of tuning. I am looking for the fastest and easiest way to tune. I fluent with AEM (power Fc , etc.) and its a great unit. Just takes too much time to retune new setups from scratch. I like to change setups often so and retuning from scratch is killing me. So I am looking for an easier route. The link looks stupid easy to tune compared to AEM. Am I correct? and is it faster than tuning E8 ecu?

question. is this for the evo4 in your profile? does it have the 3 or 4 plug ecu?

if it is the 4 plug ecu i would say yes, link is way easier to tune then the AEM, you start from a factory tune and simple adjust it from there. EVO8 would be next easiest simply because it to starts with a factory tune. the only issue that we seem to have is a lot of phantom knock, at least at the moment that is what we are 90% sure it is. the only other concern is the number of times you can flash, it is claimed 100 times but there are people that have gone well beyond that. but there is a way around that with being able to load a timing and fuel map to the ram and making adjustments there then flashing it once you are happy. Little mare work though then flash.

I like my Evo 8 ECU, and the knock issue is easily remedied with the 3 knock multipliers (I just fixed mine yesterday). There are so many options, and there are more coming all the time because of the great work by tephra, mrfred, jcsbanks, and other knowledgeable, helpful people on EvolutionM.

The evo8 ecu is also easy to tune, I've heard AEM has a tendency to be a bi*** to tune on purpose.

I agree that the knock issue is easily fixed. After Jrohner did it I got some ambition and re-read the knock control thread which took about an hour while I was watching TV anyway and then doing the actual change, testing it, and fine tuning the result took less than 15 minutes. I can still see knock when it happens but my phantom knock is gone.

The big difference IMO is price, you end up paying a lot for a system that will do most of your tuning for you. A lot of people will argue some technical aspects on why link is better but when it comes down to it for someone mildly competent you can do everything on an evo8 ecu that you can on link it just might take you longer.
