well here we go.. I have a 91 1g talon gst mainly stock besides mbc. I instlled link v3 I bought used. when first installed it was set on SD got it running back the way it was before on stock ecu. first thing happened was a cel with a knock malfunction code.. not sure if the sensor went bad that quick or if something isn't set right.. to continue im starting to log and noticing I get knockret 3.2 degrees when in hard boost which dropes timming way down. not sure if this is normal ? also I see everyone talking about knock count.. what is a knock count? I cannot seem to find that answer anywhere is it the degrees it retards?? ( in my case 3.2 Degrees) also what and how am I soposto adjust the fuel trims and timming maps ? I don't wanna just go in and screw around id like to know what im doing.. ive read ecm wiki a few times and am getting confused by it.. also after I get on it a bit and let off the engine cuts.. like it got a big gulp of fuel or my thoughts air.. id don't have a WB in yet need to get my dp first also just recently my flex pipe broke so its pretty loud right now hence waiting for the DP for widban and to put my full 3in on.. this site and this community has been helpful numerous times before and im hoping im not being annoying I was brought up ( asking is knowing) any help would be great and maybe some explanation on what to do where with fuel and timming and what does what would be the best... thank in advance

also I am gonna attempt to load my logs for you to see thanks

Get the wideband hooked up and calibrated properly, almost no one will help you with a tune without one.

If you reverted to stock properly, you downloaded the ecu maps from ecmlink's website and uploaded it to the ecu. After that, you might want to run thru all the other tabs to uncheck/reset the checkboxes for certain things like what cel's the ecu is looking for, etc.

I wasn't aware you could do that and I think that's what I am going to do, and I can fully understand that it's hard with out knowing af ratios but could you tell me if I was right about the knock count? I hear alot of ppl that talk about so many counts of knock up to 43 counts? Could you tell me if a count of knock is like .1 or 1.0 or what ? And thanks for the response and idea of downloading stock maps

Your knock sensor is either completely dead or disconnected. Make sure it's plugged in and the wire is not broken. The ECU will default to 3.2 degrees of knock retard if it doesn't see any signal from the knock sensor. It will only default to 3.2 degrees of knock retard at or above your settings on the ALS/Knock tab.

Knock "counts" are an obsolete method of measuring knock and are not used with ECMLink. One degree of knock retard is approx. equal to 3.5 knock "counts".
